Be charmed by the elegance of Old Quebec's bourgeois home of yesteryear : Victorian furnishings, a collectionof rare books, gramophone music from the past, widows walk on the rooftop...

In addition to discovering a Victorian residence in exceptionalcondition, come and admire the most beautiful antiqueChristmas tree in Quebec City decorated with 19th centuryChrismas balls and a period crèche.

For your amazement, an array of more than 50 objects comingfrom the famous wreck of Empress of Ireland is also displayed inthe house.

François-Xavier Garneau lived in this house during the last years of his life and, because of the reputation of this wellknown personage, the house was named afterhim.

F.-X. Garneau, a poet with literary talents, was the first to write the History of Canada. He wanted, at the time, to contradict Lord Durham's report which described Lower Canada as "a people without history and without literature".
