Louis Garneau Sports Inc. of St-Augustin-de-Desmaures, Québec, is voluntarily recalling approximately 283 units of the P-09 aerodynamic bicycle helmet. This helmet, certified according to CPSC standards in December 2013, was manufactured in early 2014 and its production was tested internally by both Louis Garneau and its contract manufacturer and externally by independent laboratories and passed all CPSC requirements. During a recent production, the helmet cover part made of a polycarbonate micro-shell failed the manufacturer’s head impact tests. Remaining units left from the previous production were then retested and failed the cold condition testing which leads Louis Garneau to think that there may be a degradation of the product over time. In its current version, the helmet may not prevent injuries in the case of a severe accident.

No such incident has been reported at this time, but Louis Garneau Sports Inc. has decided to deploy a preventive recall. The helmet is sold under the model name P-09.

It is offered in three colors: 7E5 (White-Blue), 6Y8 (Black-Red) and 6Y9 (White-Silver), the style number is 1405632. Recalled helmets have a manufacturer’s date sticker which reads Jan 2014. Helmets having the above mentioned manufacturing date are being recalled. Consumers should immediately stop using these helmets and return them to Louis Garneau Sports for replacement by a similar product or a refund. Helmets having a production date of APRIL 2014 meet quality standards and are not subject to this recall.

Independent Bicycle Dealers nationwide sold these helmets from January 2014 through September 2014 for between $280 and $350. Consumers should stop using these helmets immediately. For more information, consumers should call the customer service of Louis Garneau Sports at 1-800-463-8356 between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. EST Monday through Friday. Consumers should call the above number in order to obtain a return authorization number and then mail their helmets to the attention of the customer service. Consumers also can contact Louis Garneau by email at or through their web site at:

Lionel Sanders joins the Garneau family of pro triathletes

The recent 4th place finisher at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships will be sponsored by Louis Garneau for helmets, shoes, apparel, nutrition, and bikes as he works to qualify and compete at the Ironman World Championships in Kona in 2015.

Lionel Sanders was 1st on the bike split for Pro Men at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships.  "As we launch the TR1, not only is Sanders the perfect match for the bike, but the bike is the perfect match for an upcoming triathlete.  The geometry allows for aero positioning that doesn't compromise on power output or comfort.  The bike has also been maximized for aerodynamics using CFD software and wind tunnel testing," explains Pierre Perron, Global Marketing Director.

Sanders will join the Garneau team in October at the Ironman World Championships as they host VIP rides on a demo fleet of TR1 bikes to interested media, dealers, distributors, and athletes.

Post-IM 70.3 Worlds, Sanders remarked, "The bike is amazing. The whole day was amazing! Thanks for accepting me into the Garneau family. Very excited to officially begin this journey together."

Athlete's coach also remarked, "Your bike and his heart are a great partnership. To have the pro bike record against that field is amazing. To then back it up with the day's fastest bike+run split with Javier & Jan in the field is an indication just how talented Lionel Sanders is."

"Sanders is currently in training for Ironman Florida on Nov 1st.  This will be his Ironman Pro debut, and we have set a goal of breaking 8 hours overall, riding incredibly fast and then optimally running a world record marathon split off the bike" said his coach Barrie Shepley.

Lionel Sanders is excited to be in Kona during the Ironman, where he will be training on every aspect of the famous Ironman course in preparation for his goal of racing in Kona in 2015.

Second year for Garneau-Quebecor at the Tour of Alberta

Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, August 25, 2014 - Team Garneau-Quebecor is proud to present the riders that will be on the starting line one of the most important races on their calendar: the Tour of Alberta. This year, Garneau-Quebecor has the chance to welcome a special guest, a rider of the Rwanda National Cycling Team, Janvier Hadi. Janvier won the Prologue of the 2013 Tour of Rwanda. He also became the first Rwandan to podium at the Continental Championships in Egypt in 2013, taking 3rd in the U23 Road Race.

For Louis Garneau, Janvier Hadi's participation is another way to provide a stepping stone in a cyclist's career:  "It's a pleasure for me to see Janvier Hadi with our Team Garneau-Quebecor for the Tour of Alberta. Janvier is a child of the genocide that took place 20 years ago this year and to which he lost family members. Today, he dreams of Olympic Games and Tour de France. I'm proud to make him discover our region and to help him realize his dreams. Good luck Janvier!

"We greatly help the Rwanda National Cycling Team in its development and to invite one of its riders to be a part of our Continental team truly reflects our mission to help young riders get to the next level," added Louis Garneau.

The team will also count Pierrick Naud, Geoffroy Dussault, Benjamin Chaddock, Jake Kauffman, Simon-Pierre Gauthier, Julien Gagné and Adam Farabaugh, who wore the Most Aggressive Rider jersey of a stage in 2013.

Farabaugh hopes for even more this year for the team: "I would like to further improve upon getting the Most Aggressive Rider's jersey on Stage 5 last year with a more established presence in the breakaways along with helping our sprinters on the sprint stages to get the team increased visibility and results.  I think it will be very achievable for both myself and the team to get a number of top 5's.  If we can do this we will have a very successful race."

Louis Garneau is also proud to be a sponsor of the race, providing the official Stage Leader, Best Sprinter, Best Climber, Best Young Rider, Most Aggressive Rider as well as Best Canadian Rider jerseys. In addition, the company has created an event jersey that will be offered to consumers on site and online at

The Tour of Alberta will take place from September 2 to September 7, 2014, over 5 stages from Calgary to Edmonton.

Exhibition opening to benefit Rwanda’s National Cycling Team

Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, March 13, 2014 - Today, Louis Garneau will be presenting his new series of 12 paintings entitled Hope. All the proceeds from the sale of these paintings will be donated to Rwanda's National Cycling Team.

"For the rest of my life, I have decided to give the profits generated by the sale of my paintings to causes that I believe in. Team Rwanda is one of those," declared businessman and artist Louis Garneau. "About 4 years ago, Jonathan ("Jock") Boyer, the first American to participate in the Tour de France, contacted me asking me to provide assistance to Rwanda's National Cycling Team, newly created and composed entirely of young survivors of the 1994 genocide. How could I say no to a cause like that? It is why I decided to paint the Hope series, to highlight the extraordinary accomplishments of Mr. Boyer and his riders. I am filled with admiration for these young men who lived the atrocities of the genocide and who, refusing to be taken down, chose to keep living, opting to compete in one of the most demanding sports there is," he explained.

Jonathan Boyer, who will also be present at the exhibition's opening, is very grateful for the help brought by Louis Garneau. "I am very excited to come to Quebec City to be with Louis Garneau at this event. Louis has been with us since the beginning and his support has enabled us to come as far as we have."

Incidentally, has an impressive track record: he has claimed 87 victories as an amateur and 49 professional wins, in addition to having participated in the Tour de France 5 times. He was inducted into the US Cycling Hall of Fame in 1998.

The paintings of the Hope series are sold for $20,000 each, all in profit of the development of cycling in Rwanda.

Louis Garneau Sports has been a sponsor of Rwanda's team for over 4 years. Team Rwanda allows its athletes to benefit from professional-grade training and organization. Its cyclists can thus ride for themselves, for their country, as well as to raise awareness about the situation in Rwanda. The support given for the riders, in addition to their own enthusiasm, will help them gain access to competitions around the world and, ultimately, one day realize "Jock" Boyer's dream of taking his team to the Tour de France.

The exhibition will be accessible to the general public without reservation until May 1, 2014, following shop opening hours. Simply visit de Louis Garneau boutique located at 40, des Grands-Lacs street, in St-Augustin-de-Desmaures.

December 19, 2013

Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, Thursday December 19, 2013 - This morning, it is with great pride that Louis Garneau and Pierre Dion presented a cheque for $101,223 to the Little Brothers- Friends of the Eldery organization. Thanks to the record participation of the public to the Granfondo Garneau-Cascades presented by Quebecor, the amount raised represents $40,000 more than last year!

For Pascal Fournier, Director of the Little Brothers- Friends of the Eldery organization in Québec, this amount will greatly improve the help for the elderly: "The money raised will go towards the maintenance of the vacation home at St-Joseph Lake and to the development of the Little Brothers- Friends of the Eldery in the greater Quebec region. This will allow us to welcome more lonely elderly from Quebec City and surrounding area who will never again be alone."

For Louis Garneau, organizer of the event, the funds collected are synonymous with both victory and promise kept: "Last year, I promised that we would surpass ourselves and reach greater objectives, and that's exactly what we did! It was possible thanks to the 3,000 participants of the Granfondo and the help of our valued sponsors. I would like to express a very particular thank you to Pierre Dion, Honorary President of the 2013 edition, for his generosity and indispensable help in making this event a success. I am proud that together, we contributed to improving the life of the elderly suffering from loneliness, while practicing a sport we love."

2014 Granfondo Garneau-Quebecor

Louis Garneau Sports and Quebecor are proud to sponsor the sixth edition of the Granfondo Garneau-Quebecor presented by Cascades, which will take place on August 10, 2014. In addition to the cycling portion, a 10 km foot race is added to the event, making even more people move. You can register now at or by calling (418) 878-2130.

In 2014, we are pleased to count on the participation of Mr. Marcel Bouchard, well-known chronicler of the "Salut, Bonjour! Week-end" show, as Honorary President. "I have accepted to be Honorary President of the Granfondo Garneau-Quebecor firstly because I have a lot of respect for Louis Garneau and what he brings to the world of sports, but also because it is for me a natural association. It only makes sense for me to be associated with an event that makes people move and spend energy. What's more, the cause of the Little Brothers- Friends of the Eldery organization is very noble. More people die from loneliness than from age itself. This is why providing these elderly with a presence, be it just a smile or one conversation each day, helps improve their mental and physical health."

December 10, 2013

Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, December 10, 2013 - It's official, Antoine Duchesne is now a member of French cycling team Europcar. The team just received confirmation that it will be moving up from Continental Pro level to World Tour, the highest level in the world of cycling. It's almost a dream to reach the top level like this; I've been working at this goal since forever! I'm very happy to be coming back to work with the people at Louis Garneau. Two years ago, I was amateur in their team and now I'm coming back as a pro. I can't wait to start my season!" declared Duchesne.

Louis Garneau, for his part, is proud to continue having his products tested among the Quebec elite: "For years we have been designing products among the most technical on the market and it is athletes like Antoine who help us push our limits back. We had heard about him several times over the past two years and began more serious negotiations with him during our visit in Quebec last September for the Quebec and Montreal Grand Prix Cyclistes. Louis Garneau and Serge Arsenault had nothing but praise for this young Quebec cyclist, whom they qualify as one of the most promising Canadian cyclists of the year. Antoine is a versatile rider and will be an asset to the team," explained Jean-René Bernaudeau, Team Europcar's Sports Director.

The presentation of Team Europcar will take place on February 25, 2014 and the team will debut its season at the Tour of Gabon on January 13.

Granfondo Garneau-Cascades

The winner of the event was Costa Rican Paolo Montoya, who completed the 110 km in 2 hours and 27 minutes. He was followed by last year’s winner, Jérôme Fradette.

Mark your calendar for August 10, 2014, because Louis Garneau promises fun and surprises for the event’s 6th edition!

June 26, 2013

With the Tour de France less than 10 days away, we are more enthusiastic than we’ve ever been. For the last two years, Team Europcar has been a highlight of some of the event’s best action including Best Young Rider in 2011 with Pierre Rolland and Best Climber in 2012 with Thomas Voeckler.  In addition, Thomas Voeckler held the yellow jersey for 10 days in 2011 and the team had 4 stage victories in 2011 and 2012 combined.  With results like this, it’s easy to see why we are so excited.

Yet, the 100th Tour de France marks something maybe even bigger. Something definitely closer to our hearts. David Veilleux, a true Garneau athlete from his U23 days to his current Pro Tour career, has secured a Tour de France start for Team Europcar. So far, 2013 has been a fantastic year for David.  He was 1st at Stage 1 of the Critérium du Dauphiné, a World Tour event, and 1st Overall at the Boucles de la Mayenne.

David has been a component of the Louis Garneau brand for years. He is a familiar face in the office, he joins staff on rides when he is home, he has been featured in Garneau ads, helped with product development, and provided insight to our engineers. The only way to describe David Veilleux's relationship with our company is that he’s family.

We created this video before we had even learned of David being the first Quebec-born cyclist in the Tour de France.  We created this video because we have always admired how David rides with passion and that has always inspired us.

We ask that you join us in wishing David success in the weeks to come.  Though in our minds, he has already won.

Please share this video via websites, Facebook, and Twitter.

Ride for the love of it!

Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, April 11 2013 - Messrs. Louis Garneau, President of Louis Garneau Sports, and Pierre Karl Péladeau, President and Chief Executive Officer of Québecor, are pleased to present the 2013 edition of the UCI Continental Garneau-Québecor Pro cycling team.

The team includes, among others, Captain Bruno Langlois, the excellent sprinter Rémi Pelletier-Roy, as well as new recruits Pierrick Naud, Simon Lambert-Lemay, Simon-Pierre Gauthier, Michael Woods, Alex Cataford and Americans Michael Chauner and Adam Farabaugh. Joining them for the second consecutive season are Ontarian Zachary Hughes and Quebecers Geoffroy Dussault and Jean-François Racine.

Garneau-Québecor is one of only two cycling teams in Canada to compete at the UCI Continental Pro level. This license will allow the team to participate in many renowned races such as the Tour de Beauce, the Joe Martin Stage Race in Arkansas, and the TD Bank Mayor's Cup in Boston. In fact, the team got off to a strong start by winning 2 stages during the Vuelta Independencia Nacional in the Dominican Republic, and claimed two podium spots at the Tampa Criterium in Florida. The racers are prepared and ready to tackle North American roads after a solid training camp in Florida.

"We are very pleased to sponsor Team Garneau-Quebecor, a team I am certain will inspire passions among fans and cycling enthusiasts again this year. If 2013 is anything like 2012, the season promises to be thrilling!", declared Mr. Péladeau. "Our support towards the team is in line with our lifelong commitment towards excellence and the next generation of athletes. Collectively, we can be proud of these world-class champions," he concluded.

The team's development mission allows young talents to take advantage of a stepping stone to gain access to high level professional teams, in the manner of David Veilleux (Europcar) and Hugo Houle (AG2R), who were recruited by pro teams on the European circuit following their time with Garneau-Québecor.

Team Garneau-Québecor is the best team in Canada, both at the pro and amateur levels. You can follow the team and their results on Facebook (, Twitter (#GARNEAUQUEBECOR) and now on their new website,

Leclerc Group and Louis Garneau Sports, two renowned Canadian businesses, are proud to join forces in order to offer the new LG1 energy bar, the first of a line of sports nutrition products. This caramel and peanut flavored recovery bar with 12 g of protein has been developed by Leclerc's R&D team, together with specialists from Louis Garneau Sports' team, building on their sports expertise.

Two great Canadian family businesses pool their expertise: Leclerc has been producing know-how, quality and great taste for 108 years, while Louis Garneau Sports stands for 30 years of experience in sports and performance. This has allowed the two Quebec leaders based in the same industrial park, the François-Leclerc park in Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, to develop a product that meets the needs of athletes and sports enthusiasts: the LG1 energy bar, a protein bar that helps rebuild energy reserves and assists in the regeneration of muscle mass.

"I believe Quebecers should work together more often in order to face worldwide competition," said Louis Garneau. "I hope we will inspire other Quebec companies to do the same!" he continued.

"During my cycling career, nutrition has always played a vital role in my success. As a sports products company, we work with athletes on a daily basis and we want to provide them with the right products, essential for their training and races. After the LG1 energy gels and the LG1 Sports Drink performance beverages, the LG1 energy bars are the logical continuation of the nutrition line, and this association with Leclerc is the first step in the development of our nutrition line and is part of our process in becoming THE cycling solution and THE energy solution," concluded Louis Garneau. Garneau's nutrition line is developed by a new division directed by William Garneau, Louis' eldest son and the company's succession.

William, age 23, is working closely with Jean-Sébastien Leclerc, 25, who represents Leclerc's 5th generation.

"It all started last summer when we became sponsors of the Canadian cycling team," explains Denis Leclerc, President of the Leclerc Group. "It is a natural outcome for two Quebec companies like ours to consider all business possibilities and to join forces to develop new markets. We had not yet tapped into this market segment, and having the chance to do so with the Garneau team was an opportunity we could not let pass us by," says Denis Leclerc.

In addition, Louis Garneau Sports and the Leclerc Group are proud to exclusively announce that the LG1 Recovery bar is an official sponsor of the Canadian Cycling Team.

"Canada Cycling is happy to benefit from the nutrition line offered by Louis Garneau Sports and the Leclerc Group," declared Cycling Canada High Performance Director Jacques Landry. "Nutrition is an important part of our athletes' performance, I am convinced that the products they are offered will significantly contribute to our performances on the international sports scene."

The LG1 energy bars are now available at Costco.

For the past 30 years, Louis Garneau apparel has played a key role in the performance, success, and professional appearance of the Canadian Cycling Teams at 8 Olympic Summer Games. Louis Garneau and Cycling Canada announced today the renewal of their partnership as the Official Cycling Apparel Sponsor of Cycling Canada for an additional four-year term, and subsequently the cycling apparel provider for the Canadian Cycling Teams at the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

"Our role in the future of Canadian cycling is an essential component of our company's DNA. From a historical perspective, the relationship between my company and Cycling Canada stems back to my participation in the 1984 Olympic Games and my son's participation at the 2008 Junior World Championship. As we look towards the future, in a time when the sport of professional cycling is volatile and its merits are being contested, this partnership pertains to the investment in the future of cycling and the athletes that will continue the sport that has been my passion and livelihood," remarks President and Founder Louis Garneau.

"Our cycling performance wear has been proven, through research and development, to improve speed and performance at the high-level competitive stage these athletes compete in," said Louis Garneau Global Marketing Director Pierre Perron. "A key element of our multi-year renewal is based on continuing this legacy of close collaboration on product design through access to world-class athletes, scientists, aerodynamicists, wind-tunnel facilities, and real-world testing. Because of this, Louis Garneau is known for its commitment to driving innovation for the future and pushing technology even further."

"We are delighted to benefit from the renewed partnership with Louis Garneau for the next four years. Both Cycling Canada and Louis Garneau have always been committed to providing our cycling athletes with the best possible tools they require to perform at the highest international level. By working with LG to design state-of-the-art competitive clothing, our athletes will continue to perform on the international scene with the best apparel on the market," said Cycling Canada High Performance Director Jacques Landry. Louis Garneau wins the Best in Show Award by The Gear Institute at the 2013 Outdoor Retailer Winter Market Show.

The Yeti Snowshoe was one of the 15 products selected from a pool of over 150 eligible products. These 15 winners represent the leading technological trends in the outdoor market.

The award was presented by the Gear Institute on the first day of the Outdoor Retailer Winter Show to Louis Garneau representatives Pierre Perron, Marketing Director; Geoffroy Dussault, Snowshoe Product Manager; and Heidi Myers, Public Relations.

The Yeti snowshoe is a high-performance snowshoe designed for steep ascents and access to summits and utilizes the Contact Pro Harness System, a revolutionary binding with a BOA Closure System-customized fit for a lightweight, comfortable, on-the-fly adjustment that pushes performance to the limit.
The Contact Harness Pro System with BOA Closure System is:
LIGHTWEIGHT: Lightweight is essential in the backcountry. Climbers often have added gear, backpacks, skis/snowboards. Developed by BOA Technology, the dial retention system alone weighs up to 80% less than traditional buckle systems. Constructed of stainless steel, the system will not absorb water, thus reducing the overall weight in use.
SECURE FIT: With retention at the forefoot as well as the heel and toes, the 360-degree adjustable harness system offers a secure and stable fit with no slippage during descents or ascents. Lateral stability makes for ideal climbing and the micro-adjustment dial evenly distributes pressure for a comfortable fit.
DURABILITY: Knowing that backcountry adepts often tread the most difficult terrains and the longest treks, the BOA Closure System uses a dial to wind the aircraft-grade stainless steel laces, and the entire system is backed by a "BOA Dialed-In for Life Guarantee."
QUICK-RELEASE: The releasable guide near the ankle offers a quick hassle-free harness entry and exit. The Contact Pro Harness fits any climbing or ski/snowboard boot.

It is with happiness and pride that Louis Garneau presented this morning a cheque in the amount of $60,636 to Les Petits Frères, amount raised during the 2012 edition of the Garneau-Cascades Granfondo presented by Québecor.

For Pascal Fournier, the director of Les Petits Frères, this is a significant amount. “We are so privileged to be supported by Mr. Garneau and his team, as well as sponsors and participants of the 2012 Granfondo. The funds raised will be once again put towards Les Petit Frères’ summer cottage located at Lac St. Joseph. The profits from the Granfondo Garneau-Cascades enable us to have access to drinking water, to adequate rooms, and a more functional kitchen. As of the summer of 2013, not only will we be able to accommodate a greater number of Old Friends in a more pleasant environment, but we will also be able to offer them the possibility of an overnight stay."

According to Louis Garneau, the organizer of the event, the funds raised exceed his initial expectations: “It is incredible that we were able to collect such a substantial amount for Les Petits Frères. I would like to thank the 2,000 participants for helping us present Les Petits Frères, an organization that is so important to me, with such a significant amount. Get ready for 2013, because our goals are even higher!’’

Five members of the Garneau-Québecor road cycling team will be racing the 4th edition of the Tour of Rwanda from November 18 to 25, 2012.

Louis Garneau's Course Speedzone Vest has been chosen for the prestigious 7th Annual Eurobike Award taking place today in Friedrichshafen Germany. Every year, the jury selects
new products that feature a high degree of innovation and design quality.

"The Speedzone Vest was a brainstorm of mine stemming from my continued passion to race and creative energy to develop products based on riders needs. The concept was at first a desire to create innovative products for the Team Europcar Professional Cycling Team. I arrived to the office one day with a sketch in hand and my team helped bring the drawing to life," remarks President and Founder, Louis Garneau.

With so much focus on aerodynamics, often mere utility is overlooked and compromised. The Course Speedzone Vest (world patent pending) offers a new approach to outerwear layering that focuses on the rider's usability and protection.  Developed in cooperation with Team Europcar, the goal of this development was to answer 2 of pro teams needs: 1) easy access to jersey pockets and race numbers visibility, so it can be worn during all races.

The Louis Garneau Course Speedzone Vest has an opening at the rear large enough to allow access to the rear jersey pockets and provide visibility of race numbers. This opening which has been validated and confirmed in accordance to the UCI Sport and Technical Department is exclusive to Louis Garneau, world patent pending, and part of Team Europcar's 2012 Team Kit. The rear pocket opening allows for easier access to the content of the jersey pockets and eliminates the need to transfer belongings once the vest is removed.

The front of the vest is constructed of Super Light fabric, a 100% polyester fabric that stretches and offers wind resistant and ultra light properties. The side panels and back of the vest are made of power mesh fabric for increased ventilation and snug fit. An inner flap under the zipper helps shield from wind and water. The vest is finished with a zipper garage at the neck to eliminate chafing.

This vest is part of the Louis Garneau custom collection and can be fully sublimated with your team/club colors.

Louis Garneau is proud to announce the helmet and apparel sponsorship of Pro Triathlete, Rachel Joyce for the 2012 Ironman World Championships.  Rachel Joyce is one of the main contenders for Kona, the 2012 Challenge Roth Champion, 2011 ITU World Champion for Long Course, and has three top-ten finishes in previous Ironman World Championships. Most recently, Joyce finished 1st at Ironman 70.3 Muskoka by a lead of almost ten minutes.

In addition to the Vorttice Helmet, Rachel will race and train in Garneau apparel leading up to Kona.  "The opportunity to provide helmets and apparel to an athlete of Joyce's caliber furthers our "triathlon solution" concept as well as our goal to outfit the world's best athletes.  This concept follows the sponsorship model we have with Team Europcar (also helmets and apparel), and it is these relationships that allow us to further our understanding of pro athlete needs and bring our brand and gear to the next level," remarks Pierre Perron, Global Marketing Director for Louis Garneau.  Joyce will be outfitted in the Elite Triathlon Program part of the Louis Garneau Custom Collection.  These styles will feature aerodynamically-advanced fabrics, lazer-cut armholes and leg cuffs, a women-specific Huggfit waist, and a next-to-skin fit.

Rachel Joyce and Craig Alexander have also been the first of Louis Garneau triathletes to train in and test the Course Limited Edition Collection available for Summer 2013.  "I am really excited to be working with Louis Garneau and thrilled that they were able to work with the design that I have been racing in all year for my race gear, training gear and helmets.   The product line is extensive and race kits feel great on.   I have been trying out the Course Limited Edition from the 2013 collection on my long rides and I am impressed. It's a really smart kit and more importantly, it has kept me comfortable during those long days in the saddle. The team at LG has worked hard to get everything produced for Ironman World Championships and I look forward to racing well and showcasing their products in Kona," remarks Joyce.

The Ironman World Championships will feature several Garneau athletes including Craig Alexander (apparel), Mirinda Carfrae (helmets), and now Rachel Joyce (helmets and apparel).

The design and fit of this jersey is clearly spot on based on feedback from the Team Europcar Professional Cycling Team.  Constructed of coldblack® Carbon Ion, the Team Europcar kit though in dark green will reflect heat and cool the rider as efficiently as if the kit was in white.  In addition, the coldblack® treatment also provides increased UV protection.  "We are excited to see coldblack®  textile technology from Schoeller being used in the Tour de France. Team Europcar will see great benefits from wearing coldblack®  as it offers reliable protection from UV rays and at the same time improves the cyclists' heat management. The Tour de France is a great place to put the technology to test," says Hans Kohn, COO of Schoeller Technologies. Embedded carbon fibers, which also help to reduce the overall weight of the jersey, prevent electric charges from settling on the body, thus avoiding a negative reaction on muscular contractility.  The carbon fibers also accelerate the movement of humidity through evaporation.  Strategically placed at the arms where the air will come in contact with the rider first is coldblack® Speedtech fabric.  Speedtech has a dimpled mesh construction that reduces aerodynamic drag and is designed to improve aerodynamics for speeds ranging from 15 to 45 mph.

Let's start with what's inside this short, first.  Team Europcar riders will ride the patented 5 Motion chamois.  This chamois is designed to provide multi-directional motions so common with Voeckler's trademark attacking moves.  By combining 3D preshaped wings with a bridged vented mesh split, the chamois adapts to the riders movements and positioning.  Mesh areas at the back and front wick moisture and prevent the moisture coming from the upper body to fill the chamois.  A carbon fiber bacteriostatic top layer wicks moisture and rids harming bacteria.  On the surface, a compressive fit is achieved by both fit and Lycra Power, a high performance compressive material.  Compression over the rider's legs is proven to enhance muscle support, increase blood flow, and reduce muscle soreness.  Treated with coldblack®, the fabric reflects heat and the fabric stays cool to the touch.  Laser Cut leg openings are produced by a cutting method using laser beams that eliminates fraying or  the need for a hem.  This hemless technology allows one layer technology that creates a smooth aerodynamic transition to the skin.

Louis Garneau is happy to celebrate the inclusion of two sponsored athletes that qualified for the 2012 Olympic Selection Pool for men's road cycling in Canada.  Among the high profile list, which includes UCI ProTour athletes such as Ryder Hesjedal, Michael Barry, and Svein Tuft, stands out two athletes that are more than Louis Garneau sponsored athletes. They are two cyclists that are considered part of the Louis Garneau family.

The first of those athletes is David Veilleux.  David Veilleux, 4X U23 National Time Trial Champion and 2X U23 Road Race Champion, made his debut in pro cycling with the long-time Garneau sponsored Jittery Joe's Professional Cycling Team in 2007.  In 2011, Veilleux joined the roster of Team Europcar and has continued with the team for 2012.  Veilleux and Team Europcar are currently sponsored by Louis Garneau for helmets and apparel.  Veilleux is also sponsored by Garneau for shoes.  "David Veilleux began as a member of our development team, currently known as Garneau-Quebecor.  It is an honor to have worked with David from the time he was a promising young rider to today when he has qualified for the Olympic Selection Pool.  As a former Olympian myself, I am filled with a great deal of pride having two athletes from my personal development team selected," remarks Louis Garneau Sports President and Founder, Louis Garneau.

The second athlete is Bruno Langlois.  Bruno Langlois also debuted in the pro cycling scene with the Jittery Joe's Professional Cycling Team in 2005 and continued racing pro until 2011.  The 2-time Canadian National Champion medalist, currently rides for the Garneau-Quebecor Cycling Team but continues racing at a level that holds his place in the pro peloton. Langlois represents the only Amateur cyclist amongst the list of eleven men.  "I'm really proud to be qualified for the Canadian Olympic Selection Pool for London 2012. I have been training and racing my bike hard to be considered part of the best riders in the country. To be on this list of high level cyclists is for me a big achievement and a good reward for my hard work. I'm focusing on my next big races and will fight against the best to show them what I have in the legs.  Garneau-Quebecor team has been awesome support for me this year, always there to help me and provide me the best products to perform at the top level. I also have to thank my personal coach Paulo Saldanha, who always believed in me and who made a big difference in my physical preparation in the past few years", notes Bruno Langlois.

As Official Apparel Sponsor of the Canadian Cycling Association, Louis Garneau will be outfitting the final selected athletes in cycling for London 2012 who will be announced on June 21st.

Louis Garneau, President of Louis Garneau Sports, and Pierre Karl Péladeau, President and CEO of Quebecor, are pleased to introduce the new 25-member Garneau-Quebecor cycling team, made up of 11 riders from Québec, 12 from Ontario, the Maritimes and British Columbia, and 2 from New Zealand.

The aim of the team is to develop world-class cyclists. It gives promising young riders a chance to grow and improve as part of a team, providing them with the means to develop their talent and achieve their goals. Team alumni include David Veilleux, who now rides the pro circuit as a member of France's Europcar team.

"That's the team's main raison d'être," said Louis Garneau. "We want to give our talented young athletes an opportunity to develop and give them a springboard to help them realize their dream, be it to compete in international amateur meets, to join the pro circuit, or even to represent their country at the Olympics."

During the 2012 season, the Garneau-Quebecor team will participate in a number of international-calibre races, including the Tour de Beauce, and several major events on the US East Coast. In fact, the team leaves tomorrow for New York State to compete in the Tour of the Battenkill. One of its members, Brett Tivers, will be defending his title after winning the race last year.

In competition, the riders use the full Louis Garneau cycling solution (shorts, jersey, helmet, shoes, gloves, bikes and accessories), serving as a test bed for product development.

Quebecor, the team's lead partner, sees its backing as a natural extension of its longstanding involvement in developing young talent in all fields: culture, business, sport. "Our support for elite athletes is in keeping with our commitment to promoting success and excellence," said Pierre Karl Péladeau. "Helping champions emerge, improve and become tomorrow's star pro athletes is a way for us to invest in the Québec of the future."

The Garneau-Quebecor cycling team's partners - Norton Rose, Cascades, Shimano, Vittoria, Sports Experts, Fedex, Delmar, Aquafina, Deloitte and Couture Rochette - are making a vital contribution to the development of young cyclists in Québec and the rest of Canada.

Louis Garneau, known to the cycling industry as the cycling solution, launches a new product line today known as Garneau Nutrition. Six flavors of energy gel will hit the market as the debut of this product line with an electrolyte sports drink and more nutritional products to follow in the near future.

LG Gel is made with natural ingredients and an optimum blend of complex carbohydrates, electrolytes, and antioxidants needed to meet the nutritional demands of athletes during racing and training.

Foremost, LG Gel tastes great and is available in six flavors, including Citrus, Concord Grape-Apple, Goji-Blueberry, Strawberry-Dragonfruit, Tropical Fruit, and Wildberry Pomegranate. Unlike other energy gels, LG Energy Gel contains real fruit juice which gives it a clean, simple, and natural taste with no chemical, bitter, or harsh after-taste. During intense workouts, taste is intensified; therefore, the flavors have been specially formulated to appeal to athletes of all abilities. In addition, the consistency of the gel makes it easy to swallow with or without water and allows for easy digestion.

We've perfected the packaging after two years in development (patent pending). The packaging is designed for a quick, no-struggle opening on the bike or during the run with a hole-punched tab for fingers to grip. The gel control spout allows the user to control the flow to the mouth and eliminates mess. The gel can easily be opened while in motion and the opening easily dispenses either directly to the mouth or in the waterbottle. Gel also stores perfectly in back pockets. The hole-punched tab will also be integrated to other products currently in development including bags and accessories.

"During my cycling career, nutrition always played a vital role in my success. As a cycling company, we work with athletes on a daily basis and therefore, had the desire to provide them with products essential for their training and racing. The launch of LG Energy will allow us to continue to be the cycling solution," remarks Founder and President, Louis Garneau.

Each gel packet is a serving size of 41 g and contains 100 calories with 25 grams of complex carbohydrates for quick absorption and increased long-term energy output and just 4 grams of simple sugars that make it easy to digest. Two Key Electrolytes (sodium and potassium) assist in rehydration and replenish electrolytes lost from perspiration. LG Gel contains no artificial flavors, colors, or sweeteners and delivers 100% DV of antioxidant vitamins C & E which help reduce muscle soreness and aid in recovery. Two flavors, Citrus and Tropical Fruit, are caffeinated. Citrus has 50mg of caffeine or roughly the equivalent of a single shot of espresso and Tropical Fruit has 25mg of caffeine.

LG Gel will be available throughout bike shops in both the United States and Canada. LG Energy will be marketed as part of Louis Garneau's Cycling Solution - and part of everything needed for the cyclist.

Well-known businessman and former Olympic cyclist Louis Garneau, who continues to reveal his artistic talent by putting in new efforts for the benefit of the Fondation du Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, engaged in a live painting performance last Saturday, to the delight of guests and media attending the “Contrasts” fundraiser.

Louis Garneau has taken up the challenge to create a unique and live canvas, in front of those present, who could then bid to acquire the painting as part of the public sale and auction held to benefit the Fondation du Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec.

The event took place in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, in the great hall of the museum, where the audience could dance to the same music the artist listened to on his iPod during the creation of his two works. "It was a great challenge," said Louis Garneau. "It is certain that the public presence completely changes the context," he says with a smile, "but it was also memorable and very rewarding, allowing direct contact between the artist and the public at the very moment of creation."

Louis Garneau, who has decided that from now on all proceeds from the sale of his paintings will go to charity, has already donated a previous series of 12 paintings, "The World", to the Fondation, most of which have been sold already. A "Louis Garneau" currently trades at $10,000, bringing his contribution to the fundraising campaign of the museum’s foundation to approximately $120,000, not counting Saturday night’s production. Incidentally, one of his paintings is on display in Lance Armstrong’s bicycle store, Mellow Johnny's, in Austin, Texas.

After a cycling career filled with success leading up to the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, Louis Garneau the businessman has made his company, Louis Garneau Sports Inc., a Quebec success story selling its products in over 30 countries. Today, he turns back to his first love, the arts, an area in which he holds a BA from the School of Visual Arts from Laval University, and devotes some of his free time to painting while benefitting many charities and causes close to his heart, including the expansion of the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec.

"It was an honor for us to produce the triathlon kit that Craig raced with at the 2011  Ironman World Championships.  Our gear proved its ability to provide Craig with an aerodynamic advantage while not compromising comfort or breathability, two crucial factors that impact an athlete's performance.  We are so happy to further this partnership and continue to revolutionize the triathlon marketplace with innovative gear designed to function," comments Pierre Perron, Global Marketing Director for Louis Garneau.

The Louis Garneau Carbon Pro Team shoes offer the latest in shoe technology for an optimized performance. The X-Lite outsole is our lightest outsole with added ventilation that does not compromise stiffness and is designed for racers. Not only is the outsole superlight, the thin design achieves a position that is closer to the pedal and therefore offers increased power. The rear heel features HRS-300 technology. This technology is an internal polymer system that secures the foot in place, optimizes fit, and reduces loss of power through slippage. The three straps (two Velcro, one ratchet) are physiologically designed for unsurpassed comfort providing pressure point relief and a secure fit that holds the foot in place and works in cooperation with the HRS-300 technology to increase power transfer. The insoles have Ice-Fil's moisture control technology. The fibers react to perspiration and convert sweat to a refrigerant to keep your feet cool and dry.

Thomas Voeckler, David Veilleux, and other professional athletes will be riding the Carbon Pro Team shoe for the 2012 season.

The Carbon Pro Team shoe is available in Red and Black, retails for $329.99, and expected to hit stores in January.

Some of the most innovative technology in the Louis Garneau Collection will appear on Team Europcar at Saturday's Tour de France Individual Time Trial.  Louis Garneau sponsors helmets and apparel to Team Europcar, and some riders, such as Thomas Voeckler are riding Louis Garneau shoes and optics.

On Saturday, Team Europcar will ride the Aero Skin which was developed specifically for time trials and aerodynamics.  The suit is designed with Speed Tech fabric that has a dimpled mesh construction to improve aerodynamics for speeds ranging from 25 to 70 km/h.  The fabric is also certified compressive and offers extreme ventilation.  The leg openings feature the Aero Lazer Band technology.  Engineered for aerodynamics, the single-piece band is laser-cut and hemless for a smooth aerodynamic transition from the fabric to the skin while also being muscle supportive and maintaining position.

The Aero Skin is part of the Louis Garneau Custom Collection and can be designed with your team's graphics and logos.  The same technology will be implemented into the Vorttice Speed Suit which will be available at your local Louis Garneau Retailer in Early 2012.  MSRP: $ 249.99

Team Europcar will also be wearing the Louis Garneau Vorttice helmet.  The Vorttice debuted on the market this year and can also be seen on the heads of some of the world's best athletes including Current Ironman World Champion, Mirinda Carfrae.  The Vorttice helmet has a texturized surface on the front of the helmet similar to that of a golf ball.  This surface helps to achieve better laminar airflow.  Small blades at the top of the helmet create vortices that energize the laminar layer resulting in improved performance.

In order to avoid hindering aerodynamics, the vent opening must be strategically positioned.  When the cyclist is riding straight forward the air must change direction to skirt around the helmet.   This creates a high pressure zone in the front of the helmet, making it the perfect place to position the vent.  Air goes in at high speeds, moves around the head through the evacuation channels, and out by the back opening.  Heat produced by the cyclist's head is then wicked out through the back.  The internal padding features Ice-fil technology that converts sweat to a refrigerant to maintain optimum comfort.

The Vorttice will be available in September 2011, and new for 2012, an all black version will be available in December 2011.  MSRP: $249.99 and $259.99 for the Black Knight version.

Louis Garneau has done it again. This time Louis Garneau will be introducing a new triathlon shoe, the Tri-300, which will surpass all existing triathlon shoe technology found on the market today. These shoes will serve as the second generation custom-fitting triathlon shoe from Louis Garneau expected to hit shelves in December 2011.

A Power Flex Strap system is a vented offset positioned straps that extends from the inside arch to the outer tendons to secure placement and reduce pressure.  The strap is stiff and rubberized for quick and efficient transition.

The Tri-300 offers a perfect fit for all riders through our 100% heat moldable using a home conventional oven.

An Exo-Jet Carbon outsole with silver fibers to reflect heat and flexible carbon arch supports for comfort.

Detailing is perfected and allows you to shave seconds with a rear puller with reflector.  Our stiffest to date and super easy to grab rear pull hoop is anchored from the bottom of the heel for an efficient and quick pull-on.  The vertical opening is wide enough to accommodate two fingers and thumb.

Look for athletes Joe Gambles and Chris Legh to be wearing their Louis Garneau Tri-300 as they cross the Ironman 70.3 World Championship finish line in September!

Thomas Voeckler of Europcar Professional Cycling Team is back in yellow!  The former French National Champion wore the jersey for ten days during the 2004 Tour de France, and earned it once again after Stage 9 of this year's Tour de France.  Voeckler is now 1:49 ahead of Luis Leon Sanchez Gil of Rabobank Cycling team in the overall standings.

On Tuesday, Voeckler will embark on his 11th day in history wearing the yellow jersey during the Tour.  He will also be outfitted in Special Edition Yellow Quartz Helmet, Yellow Carbon X-Lite Shoes, Yellow Speed Storm Optics, and a Yellow Custom Lazer Cut Bib all from Louis Garneau.

Louis Garneau is the only manufacturer to have the complete cycling solution (helmets, shoes, optics, and apparel) on one team in this year's Tour de France.  "For us this is a dream, we have yellow fever right now.  Racing is part of our company's DNA, so we are thrilled to be part of this victory with Team Europcar and Thomas Voeckler" remarks Pierre Perron, International Marketing Director at Louis Garneau.

Louis Garneau is pleased to announce the helmet sponsorship of Current World Champion, Mirinda Carfrae. Carfrae won the 2010 Ford Ironman World Championships wearing a Louis Garneau Chrono-Leggera, and this year, Carfrae will be racing in the new windtunnel tested Vorttice helmet. Louis Garneau has proven their strength as a leader in helmets outfitting some of the world's best triathletes including: Chrissie Wellington, Joe Gambles, Samantha McGlone, and team TBB. In 2010, Louis Garneau was also ranked #1 at the Kona Helmet Count.
"After using a Garneau helmet for a number of years, I am thrilled to have become an official member of the Garneau family. I spent a whole day in the wind tunnel with Felt and found the Vorttice to be the most aerodynamic helmet on the market, but what has impressed me most is its ability to keep my head cool-which of course is hugely important when you consider the risks of overheating in races like Kona", remarks Carfrae.

"We are excited to work with Mirinda", notes Pierre Perron, International Marketing Director at Louis Garneau. "Working with athletes of her caliber is the only way we can hold our position as #1 in triathlon helmets. We have windtunnel tested the Vorttice helmet and know the aerodynamic strength it has. With the help of professional athletes, we will work to convey this message to all levels of triathletes."

The Vorttice helmet is a true revolution in aerodynamic helmets designed to be faster than the competition. Unlike any other aero helmet, proven dimpled technology at the front of the helmets causes air to flow closely to the helmet. When hitting the "Vortex Generator" at the top of the helmet, the air is accelerated again so it can glide along to the end of the helmet and eliminate air disturbances. The unique "air intake" situated at the highest pressure point on the helmet directs the air along the 3 evacuation channels, keeping the rider cool and directing the flow of air through and out the helmet. When the cyclist is riding straight forward, the air must change direction to skirt around the helmet. This creates a high pressure zone in front of the helmet making it the perfect place to position the vent. Air goes in at high speed, moves around the head through internal evacuation channels and exits at the back opening. Heat produced by the cyclist's head is then wicked out through the back. Designed to improve aerodynamic performance, the Vorttice lens is ventilated and included with the helmet. The shape of the helmet, the air intake system and the Vortex Generator prove to be exceptional at managing winds from all directions allowing athletes to go faster while spending less energy.

Louis Garneau has been the apparel sponsor of the Canadian Cycling Association for over 25 years. After proving the results of the new Louis Garneau Vorttice Helmet at the National Research Council Wind Tunnel in Ottawa, Ontario, the Canadian National Women's Track Team set out on the World Championships in the Netherlands.

Tara Whitten took her second consecutive title at the Women's Omnium. The omnium is a multiple-race event and with races held back to back with little time for recovery. Omniums are known as one of the most grueling events in track racing and this format will debut at the 2012 Olympic Games for which Whitten is preparing. Post victory, champion Tara Whitten noted: "Louis Garneau has been a long-time supporter of Canadian Cycling and I am excited about the new technology and testing that has gone into the Vorttice helmet."

"We have produced apparel for the Canadian Cycling Association for over 25 years because Louis Garneau is the cycling solution and offers a complete selection of cycling products including helmets, shoes, and apparel. It was an objective of ours to work towards getting Canada's best athletes in Louis Garneau helmets. The significance of aerodynamics in track racing made the Vorttice a perfect choice for the Women's Track Team," notes International Marketing Director, Pierre Perron. The Vorttice helmet complete with aerodynamic lenses has been wind tunnel tested and proven as the most efficient aero helmet available. "Dimpled technology, a unique air intake, a funneled back channel for ventilation, and vortex generator technology is more advanced and unlike standard aero helmet technology on the market right now," remarks Perron. "The UCI World Track Championship was a perfect opportunity for us to let this technology prove itself."

Louis Garneau is proud to announce the helmet sponsorship of pro triathlete, Samantha McGlone. Samantha McGlone has been racing professionally for 9 years. First as short course ITU athlete where she represented Canada at the Olympic Games in Athens 2004, then on to long course where she was the 2006 Ironman 70.3 World Champion and 2nd at the 2007 Ironman World Championships and 2007 IM 70.3 World Championships. She won Ironman Arizona in a new course record in 2009 and was US Pro Champion for Ironman 70.3 in Texas.

"I have been racing in the LG Superleggera for the past few seasons and it is the lightest, most comfortable aero helmet I have ever tried. For daily training and extra hot races like the Hawaii Ironman I use the Diamond - it's so light and well ventilated I forget it's even there! I am excited to be partnering with LG in 2011. Their years of research and attention to detail is evident in all of their products and makes them leaders in the industry," notes McGlone.

"The helmets we have on the market right now offer the most aerodynamic, lightweight, and ventilated options available for athletes. While we are unsure exactly which style McGlone will be racing in this year, we are working to get her riding with the new Vorttice and X-Lite helmets," remarks Pierre Perron, International Marketing Director for Louis Garneau.

The unique "air intake" situated at the highest pressure point on the helmet directs the air along the 3 "evacuation channels" keeping the rider cool and directing the flow of air through and out the helmet. The shape of the helmet, air intake system and vortex generator prove to be exceptional at managing winds from all directions allowing athletes to go faster while spending less energy.

The Louis Garneau X-Lite Helmet is the lightest helmet on the market without compromising the retention system. Through patent pending U-Bar technology, U-shaped ribs that are folded six times create a complex exoskeleton to reinforce the helmet's structure. A super lightweight helmet stabilizing device is fitted with the webbing system and can be fully adjusted using only one hand. Super MSB technology is a ring-shaped protection at the base of the helmet to reinforce the perimeter for enhanced protection. All of these details make the X-Lite helmet not only seconds saving, not only ultra light, but they make the helmet safe and do not compromise the need for protection.
