Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, September 20, 2013- Louis Garneau is proud to announce the participation of Alex Cataford, Garneau-Quebecor Team rider, at the 2013 UCI Road World Championships, which will take place in Florence, in the beautiful Tuscany region of Italy next September 22 to 29.
Cataford will represent Canada in the time trial (U23), an event in which he is Canadian National Champion in the U23 Elite Men category. “I am very excited to be representing my country at the upcoming World Championships. Over the season, I have worked hard and made many sacrifices, but in the end it has all paid off. These championships were a target for me at the start of the season, and now, going into the final preparations, I am very excited to race. Next week, I will give it my all and hope to make my country proud. I have many people to thank for this season, but I would like to reach out to Louis Garneau Sports in particular. I have received phenomenal support with the team and it was a great opportunity to work in a high level environment. In the team, we are surrounded by a great group of people who I cannot thank enough for their encouragements”, declared Cataford. On Italian soil since Thursday, Alex is already preparing for his trial that will be taking place on Monday.
“We are very proud of Alex, who has been riding for Garneau-Quebecor Team all this 2013 season. He is considered, and rightly so, one of the greatest hopes of Canadian cycling and we are especially happy to have had him on our team this season. We wish him the best of luck for the World Championships in Italy,” declared Louis Garneau, President of Team Garneau-Quebecor.
