| | | The Garneau-Crocs Cycling Team, Edition 2008 March 19, 2008 | | | Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, Québec, February 2008 – Louis Garneau Sports is proud to present the 2008 edition of the Garneau-Crocs cycling team. Always in quest for excellence, Louis Garneau confirms that the Garneau-Crocs team returns for 2008 with its international flair, an innovative strategy successfully implemented last year. The senior team will feature four talented Canadian riders teaming up with four foreign riders from Australia and Brazil. “Our goal is not only to improve the overal racing level, but also to help young Canadian cyclists in becoming more competitive,” says Mr. Garneau.
Of course, the junior team also returns this year with seven riders eager to win. Among team members, William Garneau and Hugo Houle will help making the team one of Canada’s best. But new this year is the fact that Garneau-Crocs adds six cadets and 2 minimes, including the number one in Quebec, Joakim Albert, so that the team be represented in more categories, thus providing better development possibilities and improving visibility on the entire circuit. Adding categories is a very logical step for Garneau-Crocs. It meets the team’s mission, which is to prepare young aspiring athletes to a professional cycling carreer, while giving them the opportunity to win races in both Quebec and the northern United States as well as helping them to blossom thanks to sport. The Garneau Crocs team members will therefore participate in many prestigious races, in both the province of Quebec and the northeastern United States, for a busy 2008 race calendar.
To make sure the team’s ambitious, yet achievable goals are met, a rigourous structure was implemented, depicting not only the image of athletes, but that of Louis Garneau Sports and the team’s sponsors. However, the accomplishment of such a project implies the essential support of many partners. Once again this year, the team responsibles are delighted to announce a partnership with Crocs Canada, the famous sandals manufacturer, as the official sponsor. The following sponsors are also proud to participate in this project to sustain tomorrow’s Canadian cycling champions: Ogilvy Renault, Shimano Pro, BMW Ville de Québec, Cascades, Le Groupe Forzani Sports-Experts, Aquafina, Couture Rochette, Banque de Montréal, Samson Bélair, Primotex, CIBC Wood Gundy, Selles San Marco and Vittoria. The fact that Sports-Experts joins the team for the first year is particularly important considering its long business relationships with Louis Garneau Sports.
| | | Louis Garneau Sponsors Bouygues Telecom Professional Cycling Team November 29, 2007 | | | St-Augustin-de-Desmaures, November 29, 2007 - Generally anniversaries are times of reflection, times of sentiment, and times of historical perspective. However, in 2008, Louis Garneau will be celebrating their 25th Anniversary by strategizing for the future. With tremendous growth in the helmet product category and plans for continued evolution, the decision to continue sponsorship of Bouygues Telecom Professional Cycling Team for a 3rd consecutive season is blueprinted in the company’s marketing plan for 2008. Upon return from the 70.3 World Ironman Championships, Pierre Perron, Marketing Director for Louis Garneau USA shared market share statistics at a staff briefing. “The 70.3 World Championships included 1,624 athletes from over 52 countries. Of those participants, 563 wore aero helmets. And of those 563, 43% wore Louis Garneau aero helmets. These stats represent the largest segment of those 563 participants with Giro falling behind at only 24%. This concludes that our efforts to increase market share of Louis Garneau helmets has been successful, and we will continue to push in 2008,” remarked Perron.
Bouygues Telecom, who came on board with Louis Garneau in 2006, has been central to that growth. The team has worked in conjunction with Louis Garneau’s team of product engineers to refine and innovate the Louis Garneau helmet line by providing feedback and participating in windtunnel testing. “It is one thing to support a high caliber team whose philosophy and interest lies in notable young riders. It is another thing to use the visibility of that team to advertise the company’s interest and development of cycling gear, and it is yet another thing to collaborate with that team to push the limits and innovate with our products. And that is where Louis Garneau goes beyond the competition. Our sponsorship decisions are more than mere advertising opportunities. We use them as building blocks”, notes Founder and President, Louis Garneau. And 2008 may represent a powerful year for the Bouygues Telecom team. Working with renown returning riders Thomas Voeckler, Pierrick Fédrigo, and Jérôme Pineau, several young, aggressive, and inexperienced racers will make their debut at the professional level including: Damien Gaudin, Sébastien Turgot and Perrig Quemeneur as well as the Russians Yuri Trofimov and Evgeny Sokolov. Being part of the Bouygues Telecom team will allow them to demonstrate their qualities that are the strengths and identity of the team: Solidarity, Distinction, and Unity. The Tour de France will once again be the highlight of their racing calendar. Other highlights of their 2008 schedule include a first stage early in December, their official launch of the season on January 10th, followed by the departure to Australia for the first race of the season.
For 2008, Louis Garneau has launched the Rocket Air helmet, an evolution of the Rocket helmet with added ventilation that doesn’t compromise the aerodynamics. “We were the first on the scene with a certified TT helmet, and we continue to be the forefront of TT helmet technology,” states Pierre Perron. The Rocket Air’s unprecedented ability to improve speed can also be seen on the head’s of renowned triathletes including Chris Legh and Desiree Ficker. “We recognize and abide by the fact that helmets represent safety, but we also know that cyclists and triathletes alike seek out products that will shave seconds off their performance and/or increase their comfort. It is all about the gear. Innovative. Technical. Perfect Gear.” Also part of the 2008 line is the return of the Titan Carbon and Exo-Nerve helmets. With the help of a recent ad campaign, Louis Garneau is challenging consumers to consider the price they are paying per gram of weight for each helmet. The Exo-Nerve which featherweights only 270 grams is $.37 a gram. Compared with the competition, Louis Garneau is offering an extreme lightweight helmet at a more aggressive price. | | | Garneau keeps your hands dry ! Stage 5: July 19
After 3 race days, François Chabot standed out once again in the 143 km criterium with a time of 1 h 20 m 27 s, bringing him to the 5th place among 152 riders.

Louis Garneau Sports proudly presents the new Garneau-Crocs cycling team, made up of 8 talented cyclists from Quebec and Nova Scotia, but also from Australia and Brazil. This senior team, with its international flair, has once again been created this year to support young aspiring cyclists and helping them blossom into professional athletes. The team’s technical director, just like last year, will be Mr. Alain Veilleux, father of the Canadian champion David Veilleux.
Once again this year, the senior team can count on Jamie Lamb, from Nova Scotia, who finished in the third place in the Canadian Championship espoir. We have also associated a junior development team, made up of 10 young cyclists who will be wearing the same colors as the senior team. Mr. Jean-Yves Labonté, who is well-known in cycling, will be the technical director of this young team.
The success of such a project requires the essential collaboration of all the partners. Those in charge of the Garneau Team are especially proud to team up with a sponsor like Crocs, maker of the famous sandals, as the official partner. Moreover, Ogilvy Renault, a law firm specializing in intellectual property, patents and trademarks, Info 800, Mercedes Benz, Aquafina, Shimano, Vittoria, Selle San Marco, FSA, Thule and Edge are extremely proud to support Canada’s cycling youth.
In its first year of existence, the Garneau-Optik team demonstrated a sturdiness leaving other riders on their guards. Last year, Garneau-Optik won 36 podium positions, including 22 wins. This year, the Garneau-Crocs team will be as formidable with its new riders coming from Brazil and Australia who will team up with the talented riders returning from last year’s edition.
