Louis Garneau is proud to announce the apparel sponsorship of Current and 5X Ironman World Champion, Craig Alexander. Alexander won the 2008, 2009, and 2011 Ironman World Championships and currently holds the record for the fastest World Championship Course Record. Alexander is also the 2006 and 2011 Ironman 70.3 World Champion.
"It was an honor for us to produce the triathlon kit that Craig raced with at the 2011 Ironman World Championships. Our gear proved its ability to provide Craig with an aerodynamic advantage while not compromising comfort or breathability, two crucial factors that impact an athlete's performance. We are so happy to further this partnership and continue to revolutionize the triathlon marketplace with innovative gear designed to function," comments Pierre Perron, Global Marketing Director for Louis Garneau.
Craig's kit as worn at the 2011 Ironman World Championships in Kona was part of the Louis Garneau Custom Elite Collection that features the Lazerband leg cuff which is laser cut and seamless to reduce wind resistance, offer a second-skin feel, and provide a full range of motion. The dimpled mesh construction of the Tritek fabric offered the airflow and moisture evaporation needed to handle the heat, sweat, and conditions of the Kona field. The Elite Lazer Tek kit is available for teams and clubs in various options to meet your needs. "Quite simply - this is the most comfortable kit I have ever raced in. From the first time I put it on, I knew the comfort and the fit were ideal for Ironman racing and I was eager to break it in on race day in Hawaii, " claimed Alexander.
Louis Garneau proudly announced today that the profits generated by the Cyclosportive Garneau-Cascades, in the amount of $30,000, have been donated to the Friends of the Elderly organization. Mr. Garneau also wishes to extend his thanks to Messrs. Laurent Lemaire, Chairman of the Board of Cascades Inc., and Pierre Karl Péladeau, President and CEO of Québécor Inc., for their involvement in the success of the Cyclosportive of August 14, 2011.
“This is the best time of the year to give, in my opinion. However, we must not forget that these people are isolated all year long, not only during the Holidays, even if we do think more of lonely people during times of reveling. Life has given me a lot and I try to give back as much as I can”, says an obviously moved Louis Garneau.
This amount will help pay for work that needs to be done on the Friends of the Elderly cottage of Lac St-Joseph. This cottage started operating in 2005 and its goal is to enable isolated people adged 75 and more to enjoy some good times in one of the most beautiful sites in the Quebec City area. The activities organized there by the organization let lonely elderly people enjoy nature with volunteers who take good care of them.
Louis Garneau first got involved with the Friends of the Elderly organization approximately 15 years ago with well-known comedians such as Mrs. Juliette Huot and Messrs. Jean Besré and Paul Hébert. Louis Garneau supports the organization in several ways among which the donation of the profits generated by the annual Cyclosportive Garneau-Cascades. In 2012, the event will be held on August 12 and hopes to see as many as 2,000 participants, which would double the amount of the donation remitted every year to the Friends of the Elderly organization.

The Louis Garneau Carbon Pro Team shoes offer the latest in shoe technology for an optimized performance. The X-Lite outsole is our lightest outsole with added ventilation that does not compromise stiffness and is designed for racers. Not only is the outsole superlight, the thin design achieves a position that is closer to the pedal and therefore offers increased power. The rear heel features HRS-300 technology. This technology is an internal polymer system that secures the foot in place, optimizes fit, and reduces loss of power through slippage. The three straps (two Velcro, one ratchet) are physiologically designed for unsurpassed comfort providing pressure point relief and a secure fit that holds the foot in place and works in cooperation with the HRS-300 technology to increase power transfer. The insoles have Ice-Fil's moisture control technology. The fibers react to perspiration and convert sweat to a refrigerant to keep your feet cool and dry.
Thomas Voeckler, David Veilleux, and other professional athletes will be riding the Carbon Pro Team shoe for the 2012 season.
The Carbon Pro Team shoe is available in Red and Black, retails for $329.99, and expected to hit stores in January.
Louis Garneau is happy to announce the launch of Pick Pay Ride, the new individual team member online ordering system for Louis Garneau Custom. The new online system will feature the ability for team coordinators to manage orders and collect payment from team members. "Online Ordering Systems are becoming common in the custom apparel business, but through consulting with teams we have determined that many of them are not on target," remarks Pierre Perron, International Marketing Director for Louis Garneau. The Pick Pay Ride System differs from competitors online ordering systems in the following ways:
"We are excited to launch the PPR System. We are confident in the benefits this system will provide our teams and make it another reason why to choose Garneau," notes Perron. The PPR System is available now to teams and clubs in the United States with a version for the Canadian market coming soon. New for 2012, the Carve helmet is lightweight, highly ventilated, and offers super protection for mountain bikers. The MSB technology (a monocoque structural base at the base of the helmet that reinforces the perimeter for enhanced protection) along with a fully bonded back spread the shock of impacts, provides support, and enables the helmet to be lightweight. Highly inspired by the Exo-Nerv technology seen in earlier Louis Garneau helmets, the U=Bar technology is made with U-shaped plastic ribs that are folded 6 times. These ribs act like a complex ekoskeleton that reinforces the helmet's structure. The Patented Spiderlock Pro Retention, hailed as one of the best in the cycling industry, allows the user to adjust the helmet with only one hand to ensure safety while on the bike. The Carve comes with a removable visor that is specifically designed for the helmet. "Helmets have three criteria that need to be met: It needs to be safe, it needs to be ventilated, and it needs to be lightweight. Often these criteria go against each other, but by utilizing patented technology we are able to achieve all three and offer an amazing stylish mountain bike lid," comments Pierre Perron, International Marketing Director.
The Carve helmet will be available in January and retails for $84.99.
This year, Louis Garneau will debut the Mondo Evo Jersey and Bibshort. Designed for performance, the jersey offers an aerodynamic fit and design with details such as Aero Lazer Band sleeves which are laser-cut and hemless for a smooth transition from the fabric to the skin. The jersey is superlight and thin giving a second-skin feel. The Mondo Evo Bib is made with Cell-Ion fabric which has been clinically tested to increase blood flow and blood oxygen levels in the body. It has clinically been proven to relieve pain, increase comfort, and aid in healing. It balances body temperature to help athletes achieve maximum performance. Reflective accents have been added on both the jersey and bib to promote safety and visibility to traffic when riding and training. The innovative 4Motion chamois combines 3D pre-shaped wings and a deep split at the back bridged by ventilated mesh to provide a multi-directional motion and amazing comfort. Central channel is shaped to relieve pressure, and the chamois has a high-tech bacteriostatic carbon top sheet.
The Mondo Evo Jersey retails at $159.99, and the Mondo Evo Bib retails at $189.99. Both styles will be available in October at your local Louis Garneau Retailer.
Some of the most innovative technology in the Louis Garneau Collection will appear on Team Europcar at Saturday's Tour de France Individual Time Trial. Louis Garneau sponsors helmets and apparel to Team Europcar, and some riders, such as Thomas Voeckler are riding Louis Garneau shoes and optics.
On Saturday, Team Europcar will ride the Aero Skin which was developed specifically for time trials and aerodynamics. The suit is designed with Speed Tech fabric that has a dimpled mesh construction to improve aerodynamics for speeds ranging from 25 to 70 km/h. The fabric is also certified compressive and offers extreme ventilation. The leg openings feature the Aero Lazer Band technology. Engineered for aerodynamics, the single-piece band is laser-cut and hemless for a smooth aerodynamic transition from the fabric to the skin while also being muscle supportive and maintaining position.
The Aero Skin is part of the Louis Garneau Custom Collection and can be designed with your team's graphics and logos. The same technology will be implemented into the Vorttice Speed Suit which will be available at your local Louis Garneau Retailer in Early 2012. MSRP: $ 249.99
Team Europcar will also be wearing the Louis Garneau Vorttice helmet. The Vorttice debuted on the market this year and can also be seen on the heads of some of the world's best athletes including Current Ironman World Champion, Mirinda Carfrae. The Vorttice helmet has a texturized surface on the front of the helmet similar to that of a golf ball. This surface helps to achieve better laminar airflow. Small blades at the top of the helmet create vortices that energize the laminar layer resulting in improved performance.
In order to avoid hindering aerodynamics, the vent opening must be strategically positioned. When the cyclist is riding straight forward the air must change direction to skirt around the helmet. This creates a high pressure zone in the front of the helmet, making it the perfect place to position the vent. Air goes in at high speeds, moves around the head through the evacuation channels, and out by the back opening. Heat produced by the cyclist's head is then wicked out through the back. The internal padding features Ice-fil technology that converts sweat to a refrigerant to maintain optimum comfort.
The Vorttice will be available in September 2011, and new for 2012, an all black version will be available in December 2011. MSRP: $249.99 and $259.99 for the Black Knight version.
Louis Garneau has done it again. This time Louis Garneau will be introducing a new triathlon shoe, the Tri-300, which will surpass all existing triathlon shoe technology found on the market today. These shoes will serve as the second generation custom-fitting triathlon shoe from Louis Garneau expected to hit shelves in December 2011.
A Power Flex Strap system is a vented offset positioned straps that extends from the inside arch to the outer tendons to secure placement and reduce pressure. The strap is stiff and rubberized for quick and efficient transition.
The Tri-300 offers a perfect fit for all riders through our 100% heat moldable using a home conventional oven.
An Exo-Jet Carbon outsole with silver fibers to reflect heat and flexible carbon arch supports for comfort.
Detailing is perfected and allows you to shave seconds with a rear puller with reflector. Our stiffest to date and super easy to grab rear pull hoop is anchored from the bottom of the heel for an efficient and quick pull-on. The vertical opening is wide enough to accommodate two fingers and thumb.
Look for athletes Joe Gambles and Chris Legh to be wearing their Louis Garneau Tri-300 as they cross the Ironman 70.3 World Championship finish line in September!
Thomas Voeckler of Europcar Professional Cycling Team is back in yellow! The former French National Champion wore the jersey for ten days during the 2004 Tour de France, and earned it once again after Stage 9 of this year's Tour de France. Voeckler is now 1:49 ahead of Luis Leon Sanchez Gil of Rabobank Cycling team in the overall standings.
On Tuesday, Voeckler will embark on his 11th day in history wearing the yellow jersey during the Tour. He will also be outfitted in Special Edition Yellow Quartz Helmet, Yellow Carbon X-Lite Shoes, Yellow Speed Storm Optics, and a Yellow Custom Lazer Cut Bib all from Louis Garneau.
Louis Garneau is the only manufacturer to have the complete cycling solution (helmets, shoes, optics, and apparel) on one team in this year's Tour de France. "For us this is a dream, we have yellow fever right now. Racing is part of our company's DNA, so we are thrilled to be part of this victory with Team Europcar and Thomas Voeckler" remarks Pierre Perron, International Marketing Director at Louis Garneau.
Louis Garneau is pleased to announce the helmet sponsorship of Current World Champion, Mirinda Carfrae. Carfrae won the 2010 Ford Ironman World Championships wearing a Louis Garneau Chrono-Leggera, and this year, Carfrae will be racing in the new windtunnel tested Vorttice helmet. Louis Garneau has proven their strength as a leader in helmets outfitting some of the world's best triathletes including: Chrissie Wellington, Joe Gambles, Samantha McGlone, and team TBB. In 2010, Louis Garneau was also ranked #1 at the Kona Helmet Count.
"After using a Garneau helmet for a number of years, I am thrilled to have become an official member of the Garneau family. I spent a whole day in the wind tunnel with Felt and found the Vorttice to be the most aerodynamic helmet on the market, but what has impressed me most is its ability to keep my head cool-which of course is hugely important when you consider the risks of overheating in races like Kona", remarks Carfrae.
"We are excited to work with Mirinda", notes Pierre Perron, International Marketing Director at Louis Garneau. "Working with athletes of her caliber is the only way we can hold our position as #1 in triathlon helmets. We have windtunnel tested the Vorttice helmet and know the aerodynamic strength it has. With the help of professional athletes, we will work to convey this message to all levels of triathletes."
The Vorttice helmet is a true revolution in aerodynamic helmets designed to be faster than the competition. Unlike any other aero helmet, proven dimpled technology at the front of the helmets causes air to flow closely to the helmet. When hitting the "Vortex Generator" at the top of the helmet, the air is accelerated again so it can glide along to the end of the helmet and eliminate air disturbances. The unique "air intake" situated at the highest pressure point on the helmet directs the air along the 3 evacuation channels, keeping the rider cool and directing the flow of air through and out the helmet. When the cyclist is riding straight forward, the air must change direction to skirt around the helmet. This creates a high pressure zone in front of the helmet making it the perfect place to position the vent. Air goes in at high speed, moves around the head through internal evacuation channels and exits at the back opening. Heat produced by the cyclist's head is then wicked out through the back. Designed to improve aerodynamic performance, the Vorttice lens is ventilated and included with the helmet. The shape of the helmet, the air intake system and the Vortex Generator prove to be exceptional at managing winds from all directions allowing athletes to go faster while spending less energy.
Louis Garneau has been the apparel sponsor of the Canadian Cycling Association for over 25 years. After proving the results of the new Louis Garneau Vorttice Helmet at the National Research Council Wind Tunnel in Ottawa, Ontario, the Canadian National Women's Track Team set out on the World Championships in the Netherlands.
Tara Whitten took her second consecutive title at the Women's Omnium. The omnium is a multiple-race event and with races held back to back with little time for recovery. Omniums are known as one of the most grueling events in track racing and this format will debut at the 2012 Olympic Games for which Whitten is preparing. Post victory, champion Tara Whitten noted: "Louis Garneau has been a long-time supporter of Canadian Cycling and I am excited about the new technology and testing that has gone into the Vorttice helmet."
"We have produced apparel for the Canadian Cycling Association for over 25 years because Louis Garneau is the cycling solution and offers a complete selection of cycling products including helmets, shoes, and apparel. It was an objective of ours to work towards getting Canada's best athletes in Louis Garneau helmets. The significance of aerodynamics in track racing made the Vorttice a perfect choice for the Women's Track Team," notes International Marketing Director, Pierre Perron. The Vorttice helmet complete with aerodynamic lenses has been wind tunnel tested and proven as the most efficient aero helmet available. "Dimpled technology, a unique air intake, a funneled back channel for ventilation, and vortex generator technology is more advanced and unlike standard aero helmet technology on the market right now," remarks Perron. "The UCI World Track Championship was a perfect opportunity for us to let this technology prove itself."

"Louis Garneau has been focused on developing the European market. The United Kingdom is strategic in this process due to its economy and similarity of the Independent Bicycle Dealer retail structure to that of North America. Evans Cycles was the ideal candidate with retail coverage throughout the country, e-commerce and mail order sales, and a strong online presence via social media, a blog, and their own website," remarks Bruno-Luc Gauthier, International Sales Manager for Louis Garneau.
Louis Garneau triathlon products will reach the UK in selected stores beginning in April, and cycling products will be soon to follow in all Evans Cycles stores by September 2011. "I am excited to be working with a market leader in Cycle apparel and look forward to introducing Louis Garneau's innovation and value to the UK market", added Paul Markland, Clothing Buyer for Evans Cycles.
In addition, the relationship with Evans Cycles will also allow Louis Garneau Custom to be available in the United Kingdom to all teams and cycling clubs directly through Louis Garneau. Louis Garneau has one of the most extensive and technological custom apparel and helmet programs worldwide and is the leader of custom apparel in North America.
Louis Garneau is proud to announce the helmet and shoe sponsorship of the 2009 Ironman 70.3 Athlete of the Year, Joe Gambles. Gambles will be riding the Louis Garneau Vorttice Helmet and Carbon Tri HRS shoes for the 2011 Season. In 2010, Gambles wore both products to his first Ironman win in Wisconsin and backed that performance up at the 2010 Foster Grant Ironman 70.3 World Championship with a 4th place finish and the fastest bike split of the day.
"I am very excited to become officially part of the Louis Garneau team. As a professional athlete, I am always looking for the best equipment and Louis Garneau are leading the way in the advancement of cycling shoes and helmets for both the triathlon and road elite market. I look forward to a long-term relationship where I am able not only to represent the brand well through my racing but also be part of the development and innovation that Louis Garneau is renowned for." remarks Gambles.

Louis Garneau is proud to announce the helmet sponsorship of pro triathlete, Samantha McGlone. Samantha McGlone has been racing professionally for 9 years. First as short course ITU athlete where she represented Canada at the Olympic Games in Athens 2004, then on to long course where she was the 2006 Ironman 70.3 World Champion and 2nd at the 2007 Ironman World Championships and 2007 IM 70.3 World Championships. She won Ironman Arizona in a new course record in 2009 and was US Pro Champion for Ironman 70.3 in Texas.
"I have been racing in the LG Superleggera for the past few seasons and it is the lightest, most comfortable aero helmet I have ever tried. For daily training and extra hot races like the Hawaii Ironman I use the Diamond - it's so light and well ventilated I forget it's even there! I am excited to be partnering with LG in 2011. Their years of research and attention to detail is evident in all of their products and makes them leaders in the industry," notes McGlone.
"The helmets we have on the market right now offer the most aerodynamic, lightweight, and ventilated options available for athletes. While we are unsure exactly which style McGlone will be racing in this year, we are working to get her riding with the new Vorttice and X-Lite helmets," remarks Pierre Perron, International Marketing Director for Louis Garneau.

The Louis Garneau X-Lite Helmet is the lightest helmet on the market without compromising the retention system. Through patent pending U-Bar technology, U-shaped ribs that are folded six times create a complex exoskeleton to reinforce the helmet's structure. A super lightweight helmet stabilizing device is fitted with the webbing system and can be fully adjusted using only one hand. Super MSB technology is a ring-shaped protection at the base of the helmet to reinforce the perimeter for enhanced protection. All of these details make the X-Lite helmet not only seconds saving, not only ultra light, but they make the helmet safe and do not compromise the need for protection.
With the 2011 cycling season gearing to start, there are so many factors that make the launch of the Europcar Professional Cycling Team Custom Kit and Helmet an early victory.

Most notable is the fact that Louis Garneau is the only manufacturer on the pro racing scene providing both apparel and helmets to one team. This ability is significant in that time spent in windtunnels and studying body acceleration has been maximized to design both helmets and apparel that function and enhance aerodynamic performance. "This year, more than ever, we have a kit designed to exceed any standards on cycling apparel," remarks Pierre Perron, International Marketing Director.
The study of wind resistance specific to a cyclist's position led to the design and technology of the Mondo Jersey. The re-engineered jersey has multipe zones and adaptive technology to correspond with airflow direction and penetration. Speed Tech shoulder panels reduce frontal pressure and cut wind resistance at the most strategic locations on a rider's body through a dimpled, textured fabric surface. Seam placement and panels have been precisely engineered to offer a streamlined impenetrable fit that improves human efficiency. The sleeves' Aero Lazer Band is laser-cut and seamless to reduce wind resistance, offer a second-skin feel, and provide a full range of motion. An underarm cooling zone of Power Mesh enhances comfort required so athletes remain competition focused.

The Louis Garneau Lazer Cut Bib is engineered with a laser-cut, seamless Aero Lazer band, which provides a second skin feel, smooth transition, and performance enabling muscle support. The 4Motion chamois's innovative design combines 3D preshaped wings and deep split at the back bridged by multidirectional motion and amazing comfort. Multi-thickness perforated high density foam maintains shape while offering moisture vaporization. Central channel shape relieves pressure from the urethra. This bib has been designed based on biomechanical studies of the cyclist's body and needs for comfort and performance.

The team will be riding a selection of Louis Garneau helmets this year including the Diamond, the Vorttice, and the Quartz. The Quartz sets itself apart with enormous ventilation channels made possible by the MSB technology (a monocoque structural base at the base of the helmet that reinforces the perimeter for enhanced protection) and also by Composite Reinforcements that spread the shock of impacts, provide support, and are lightweight. The Patented Spiderlock Elite Retention, hailed as one of the best in the cycling industry, allows the user to adjust the helmet with only one hand to ensure safety while on the bike. It can be angle adjusted and also provided with ergonomic foam padding. Also notable is the Evacuation Channel technology. "When we build a helmet, we take into account airflow, since the heat of the rider's head must be evacuated in order to maintain performance. Moisture channels are designed to let the air in the front of the helmet flow through the helmet and exit at the back to efficiently keep the head cool," remarks Pierre Perron.
Louis Garneau is proud to announce the clothing and helmet sponsorship of the UCI Continental Pro Team, Europcar Professional Cycling Team. The two-year deal will set a landmark in Louis Garneau history as the first time both helmets and clothing will appear on a team in the Pro Tour.
"For years, Louis Garneau has been producing some of the most technical gear on the market. This sponsorship will strengthen our credibility as we test and prove our apparel and helmets through the collaboration of the world's best athletes," remarks International Marketing Director, Pierre Perron.
The team will be led by French National Road Race Champion, Thomas Voeckler, who is known for his climbing abilities and held the Leader jersey for Mountains Classification through five stages of the 2008 Tour de France. Most recently, Voeckler placed 1st at the inaugural Grand Prix de Québec.
Also riding for Europcar is 7X Canadian National Champion, David Veilleux. Veilleux even won the 2010 USA Cycling National Professional Criterium Championship though he could not hold the title. Louis Garneau has had the opportunity to work with Veilleux throughout the milestones in his racing career. First as part of the Canadian Cycling Association of which Garneau has been a long-time sponsor. Garneau also helped implement his transition to the US Pro Racing circuit with his joining the roster of Jittery Joe's Professional Cycling Team in 2007. His addition to the roster of a UCI Pro Continental team will be another step in Veilleux's career. " I'm pleased to join a world-class team since this will help in my development. Also, knowing that I'm going to ride Garneau helmets and apparel gives me confidence. That gear are some of the most technological on the market. My sponsorship with Garneau started when I first entered sports when I was around 15. It's like going back home, and I will be very glad to tell them about my experience in order to help them keep developing amazing products.," says Veilleux.
"Our relationship with Louis Garneau and the past helmet sponsorship of the Bouygues Telecom Professional Cycling Team from 2005-2008 has always been a positive factor in the history of our team. This year, we strengthen our relationship and bring Louis Garneau helmets and apparel to the team. Louis Garneau is one of the few manufacturers outfitting teams with helmets and apparel, and also one of the few manufacturers producing helmets and apparel at that caliber of technology. When presented with one of the fastest TT helmets and one of the lightest road helmets, we immediately knew it was good to be back with Garneau," remarks Jean-Rene Bernaudeau, manager since 2000.
The team will debut their season at the Tour of Gabon on January 25th, 2011
Louis Garneau stood out in the triathlon industry at the 2010 Ironman World Championship. The first victory for Garneau took place off the course the day before the race. Louis Garneau topped the list for the Aero Helmet Count pushing out Giro for the first year ever. The count gives the industry a scope of the previous year's buying trends and an idea of who the players will be for the following year.
Louis Garneau helmets also domed the heads of 4 of the Top 15 spots, pro men and pro women, including team TBB athlete, Caroline Steffen. Steffen's placed 2nd Overall for Pro Women and had the 4th fastest bike split of 4:59:23. Louis Garneau was present at the Ford Ironman Village Expo and Demo and distributed the Vorttice helmet to several athletes including team TBB athlete, Tereza Macel who is one of the top picks for female pro triathletes at this year's race. The helmet was tried, tested, and received excellent feedback by many top ranking athletes who found the Vorttice to be optimal in terms of aerodynamics and ventilation.
"The Vorttice Helmet is unlike any other TT helmet on the market right now," remarks Pierre Perron, International Marketing Director for Louis Garneau. "Dimpled technology, a unique air intake, a funneled back channel for ventilation and heat evacuation, and vortex generator technology at the top put the Vorttice Helmet at the top of it's game. There is no better time or place to launch such a technologically advancement in helmets."
The Vorttice helmet will be available to consumers soon through Louis Garneau's network of retailers.
The Elite Lazer Tek Suit is designed for high performance athletes and integrates technical fabrics, body fitting design and construction, reduced drag, and greater flexibility. Available for both men and women, the Elite Lazer Tek Suit has a dimpled mesh construction that improves aerodynamics and offers moisture management. It has a DWR (Durable Water Repellant) treatment that is water-resistant and anti-absorbent. The suit is engineered for aerodynamics with the armhole laser-cut and seamless for a second-skin feel, smooth transition, and muscle support. Carbon X-mesh inserts provide comfort and breathability. The Tri Elite Chamois is quick drying and lightweight. This multi-faceted chamois accommodates the bike, run, and swim, and an antibacterial top layer accelerates wound healing and helps tissue regeneration.
Our unique "air intake" situated at the highest pressure point on the helmet directs the air along the 3 "evacuation channels" keeping the rider cool and directing the flow of air through and out the helmet. The shape of the helmet, air intake system and vortex generator prove to be exceptional at managing winds from all directions allowing athletes to go faster while spending less energy.
After countless fit sessions, wind tunnel testing, and body acceleration analysis, Louis Garneau exceeds the standard for aerodynamic performance and speed. The study of wind resistance specific to a cyclist's position led to the design and technology of the Corsa Jersey. The re-engineered jersey has multiple zones and adaptive technology to correspond with airflow direction and penetration. Speed Tech shoulder panels reduce frontal pressure and cut wind resistance at the most strategic location on a rider's body through a dimpled, textured fabric surface. Seam placement and panels have been precisely engineered to offer a streamlined impenetrable fit that improves human efficiency. The sleeve's Aero Lazer Band is laser-cut and seamless to reduce wind resistance, offer a second-skin feel, and provide a full range of motion. An underarm cooling zone of Carbon X-Mesh enhances comfort required so athletes remain competition focused.
A new level of performance cycling bib has been unveiled. The Louis Garneau Corsa Bib is engineered with Speed Tech fabric that has a dimpled mesh construction aimed at improving aerodyanamics and offering moisture management. A laser-cut, seamless Aero Lazer band provides a second skin feel, smooth transition, and performance enabling muscle support. This bib has been designed for the pros based on biomechanical studies of the cyclist's body and needs for comfort and performance.
The thirst to engineer innovative products that provide competitive edge has once again proven true with the launch of the Flintstone Shorts by Louis Garneau. A 3D constructed mesh panel on the thighs offers unequalled ventilation and airflow while acting as protection padding. Ceratek inserts on the sides have ceramic particles that are designed to resist abrasion and provide extreme durability while still being lightweight and transferring moisture. The inseam has a seamless panel construction to prevent bunching, abrasion, and snagging, and it does not hinder body movement on the saddle. The knees are articulated and ample storage options are available. The Flintstone Short is a great example of how Louis Garneau implements visual performance into their gear to offer riders a supercharged ride.
The top three women finishers in the Challenge Roth, Ironman Distance race, had one winning element in common. They all wore Louis Garneau helmets.
Chrissie Wellington, who placed first and broke the world record for Ironman Distance Triathlons, has been wearing the Louis Garneau Diamond helmet since her 1st Place Ironman World Championship in October. "Words cannot express how overjoyed I am to have won Challenge Roth and to have broken my old World Record. Everything came together for me at the right time. I wore my Louis Garneau Diamond helmet, which is incredibly light and super comfortable, enabling me to post the fastest bike split and top off the race off with a 2hr48 marathon. Challenge Roth is such an amazing event and i am proud and privileged to have played a part in rewriting triathlon history and, through my performance, redefining what is possible for myself and others - especially for women in sport," remarks Wellington.
teamTBB’s Rebekah Keat and Tereza Macel posted a GREAT result coming in 2nd and 3rd respectively. The team will be riding some of best helmets and shoes available including:
SUPERLEGGERA: The Superleggera helmet is the pinnacle of TT helmet evolution and pushes the limits of performance through the study of laminar airflow, weight reduction, and redistribution of weight to allow for a longer aero position. The Superleggera has 2 huge front vent inlets and 3 large back vent outlets for maximum airflow. Compared to its predecessor, the Rocket air, the overall weight has been reduced (50 grams less) and the center of gravity adjusted to create less fatigue at the neck area and make it easier for the rider to maintain an aero position. Most significantly, the addition of a texturized frontal area increases laminar airflow. The surface roughness causes the flow to transition from laminar to turbulent. The turbulent flow has more energy than the laminar flow and thus, the flow stays attached longer. When coupled with the new Louis Garneau Windscreen which is ventilated for added aero performance and positioned in a optimal aero position, the Superleggera helmet is proven through windtunnel studies to be the fastest TT helmet available on the market. The visor is key in these results, and through the ventilated visor eliminates overheating.
CARBON TRI HRS: This is our most accomplished triathlon shoe to date. The perfect balance between the triathlon specific needs and raw performance without sacrificing comfort. The reverse power belt is super fast in transition, without compromising support and it increases stiffness for maximum power transfer. The heel retention strap maintains the heel in place while power stroke, maximising power transfer. CFS 100% moldable upper, breathable laminated micro fiber leather complete upper that provides a custom fit for ultimate comfort and maximum power transfer and support. The molded toe box bumper and heel cup maintain the shape of the shoe during transition while providing ventilation and stiffness.
teamTBB's 2010 calendar comprises 250 races in 5 continents. Ironman is the team's main focus - it takes part in 4 out of 5 of the world's full Ironman, and 2 in 5 of half-Ironman events. In the last 30 months, it has garnered 24 outright wins. Among its top athletes are Tereza Macel (CZE), Rebekah Keat (AUS), Stephen Bayliss (GBR), and James Cunnama (RSA).

Louis Garneau is proud to announce a three year helmet sponsorship with the Current 3X Successive Ironman Champion and Course Record Breaker, Chrissie Wellington. "We are honored to be working with one of the greatest female athletes of all-time," say Pierre Perron, International Marketing Director for Louis Garneau. "In collaboration with Chrissie, we will work to not only outfit her in the most performance-driven, technological helmets available, but we will also work with her to keep that reputation in the years to come."
Wellington wore the Louis Garneau Diamond Helmet during the 2009 Ironman World Championship in which she placed 1st during a 4:53:06 bike ride in 97 degree heat. The Diamond helmet developed and windtunnel tested for maximum ventilation and performance includes over 40 vents. Eight Venturi Vents integrated in the front of the helmet specifically allow for cooling and help to dry the inside padding for increased comfort. The ability to maximum ventilation and still meet safety standards is achieved through the Louis Garneau Patented Super MSB (monocoque structural base) and EXI (Exo-Insert) technology. Specifically, the monocoque polycarbonate base acts like an exo-skeleton providing one of the strongest ways to achieve structural strength. Instead of using conventional internal rib cages with add more weight and limit the number of vents, we used the conjunction of Super MSB and EXI technology. This consists of two polycarbonate bars placed inside the helmet at specific structural locations, and nine carbon bridge inserts provide the strength exactly where it is needed. The result: more vents less weight.
Louis Garneau is proud to announce their launch of a snowshoe collection for the US Market for Winter 2010. Each category will include polymer snowshoes as well as more traditional snowshoes with aluminum frames. "With our roots in cycling, we have sought ways and activities that not only allow an athlete to train 365 days a year, but a product line that helps our retailers maintain business year round. The introduction of a running line, two year ago, was the start of this philosophy, and we are confidant the snowshoe collection will have the same success." remarks Marketing Director, Pierre Perron.
The 2010 Snowshoe Collection is designed with user-friendly technology that will bring comfort and performance to your outings. The Ergoshape technology allows for excellent snow evacuation from the heel region in return improving maneuvering in dense terrain and offering an easy natural stride. Bent tails reduce dragging and improve backward motion. The Twin Clip and Ratchet Buckle System are intuitive and mitten-friendly. All harnesses have a 3D contoured shape for maximum foot enclosure and comfort, and crampons have multi-directional teeth for maximum grip.
