For the past 30 years, Louis Garneau apparel has played a key role in the performance, success, and professional appearance of the Canadian Cycling Teams at 8 Olympic Summer Games. Louis Garneau and Cycling Canada announced today the renewal of their partnership as the Official Cycling Apparel Sponsor of Cycling Canada for an additional four-year term, and subsequently the cycling apparel provider for the Canadian Cycling Teams at the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

"Our role in the future of Canadian cycling is an essential component of our company's DNA. From a historical perspective, the relationship between my company and Cycling Canada stems back to my participation in the 1984 Olympic Games and my son's participation at the 2008 Junior World Championship. As we look towards the future, in a time when the sport of professional cycling is volatile and its merits are being contested, this partnership pertains to the investment in the future of cycling and the athletes that will continue the sport that has been my passion and livelihood," remarks President and Founder Louis Garneau.

"Our cycling performance wear has been proven, through research and development, to improve speed and performance at the high-level competitive stage these athletes compete in," said Louis Garneau Global Marketing Director Pierre Perron. "A key element of our multi-year renewal is based on continuing this legacy of close collaboration on product design through access to world-class athletes, scientists, aerodynamicists, wind-tunnel facilities, and real-world testing. Because of this, Louis Garneau is known for its commitment to driving innovation for the future and pushing technology even further."

"We are delighted to benefit from the renewed partnership with Louis Garneau for the next four years. Both Cycling Canada and Louis Garneau have always been committed to providing our cycling athletes with the best possible tools they require to perform at the highest international level. By working with LG to design state-of-the-art competitive clothing, our athletes will continue to perform on the international scene with the best apparel on the market," said Cycling Canada High Performance Director Jacques Landry. "Building on the success that Cycling Canada has had over the last four years by implementing a system to support our athletes' potential, the next four years will be devoted to focusing on the processes that will give our athletes the optimal chances to win medals at the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Rio."

Louis Garneau has outfitted the Canadian Cycling Teams in performance apparel since 1984 (the year Louis himself participated in the Los Angeles Games). Louis Garneau will continue to supply the teams with leading, technologically advanced apparel for optimal performances. Louis Garneau is known for its high performance apparel that outfits some of the top riders and athletes in the world. The Louis Garneau logo will be prominently featured on the Canadian Cycling Teams uniforms in international races every year.

Louis Garneau wins the Best in Show Award by The Gear Institute at the 2013 Outdoor Retailer Winter Market Show.

The Yeti Snowshoe was one of the 15 products selected from a pool of over 150 eligible products. These 15 winners represent the leading technological trends in the outdoor market.

The award was presented by the Gear Institute on the first day of the Outdoor Retailer Winter Show to Louis Garneau representatives Pierre Perron, Marketing Director; Geoffroy Dussault, Snowshoe Product Manager; and Heidi Myers, Public Relations.

The Yeti snowshoe is a high-performance snowshoe designed for steep ascents and access to summits and utilizes the Contact Pro Harness System, a revolutionary binding with a BOA Closure System-customized fit for a lightweight, comfortable, on-the-fly adjustment that pushes performance to the limit.
The Contact Harness Pro System with BOA Closure System is:
LIGHTWEIGHT: Lightweight is essential in the backcountry. Climbers often have added gear, backpacks, skis/snowboards. Developed by BOA Technology, the dial retention system alone weighs up to 80% less than traditional buckle systems. Constructed of stainless steel, the system will not absorb water, thus reducing the overall weight in use.
SECURE FIT: With retention at the forefoot as well as the heel and toes, the 360-degree adjustable harness system offers a secure and stable fit with no slippage during descents or ascents. Lateral stability makes for ideal climbing and the micro-adjustment dial evenly distributes pressure for a comfortable fit.
DURABILITY: Knowing that backcountry adepts often tread the most difficult terrains and the longest treks, the BOA Closure System uses a dial to wind the aircraft-grade stainless steel laces, and the entire system is backed by a "BOA Dialed-In for Life Guarantee."
QUICK-RELEASE: The releasable guide near the ankle offers a quick hassle-free harness entry and exit. The Contact Pro Harness fits any climbing or ski/snowboard boot.

LOUIS GARNEAU’S SPEEDZONE VEST, WINNER OF EUROBIKE AWARD FOR MOST INNOVATIVE WORLD CYCLING WEAR IN 2012.

Louis Garneau's Course Speedzone Vest has been chosen for the prestigious 7th Annual Eurobike Award taking place today in Friedrichshafen Germany. Every year, the jury selects
new products that feature a high degree of innovation and design quality.

"The Speedzone Vest was a brainstorm of mine stemming from my continued passion to race and creative energy to develop products based on riders needs. The concept was at first a desire to create innovative products for the Team Europcar Professional Cycling Team. I arrived to the office one day with a sketch in hand and my team helped bring the drawing to life," remarks President and Founder, Louis Garneau.

With so much focus on aerodynamics, often mere utility is overlooked and compromised. The Course Speedzone Vest (world patent pending) offers a new approach to outerwear layering that focuses on the rider's usability and protection. Developed in cooperation with Team Europcar, the goal of this development was to answer 2 of pro teams needs: 1) easy access to jersey pockets and race numbers visibility, so it can be worn during all races.

The Louis Garneau Course Speedzone Vest has an opening at the rear large enough to allow access to the rear jersey pockets and provide visibility of race numbers. This opening which has been validated and confirmed in accordance to the UCI Sport and Technical Department is exclusive to Louis Garneau, world patent pending, and part of Team Europcar's 2012 Team Kit. The rear pocket opening allows for easier access to the content of the jersey pockets and eliminates the need to transfer belongings once the vest is removed.

The front of the vest is constructed of Super Light fabric, a 100% polyester fabric that stretches and offers wind resistant and ultra light properties.
TEAM EUROPCAR RIDES COLDBLACK® CARBON JERSEY AND ELITE LAZER CUT BIB

The design and fit of this jersey is clearly spot on based on feedback from the Team Europcar Professional Cycling Team. Constructed of coldblack® Carbon Ion, the Team Europcar kit though in dark green will reflect heat and cool the rider as efficiently as if the kit was in white. In addition, the coldblack® treatment also provides increased UV protection. "We are excited to see coldblack® textile technology from Schoeller being used in the Tour de France. Team Europcar will see great benefits from wearing coldblack® as it offers reliable protection from UV rays and at the same time improves the cyclists' heat management. The Tour de France is a great place to put the technology to test," says Hans Kohn, COO of Schoeller Technologies. Embedded carbon fibers, which also help to reduce the overall weight of the jersey, prevent electric charges from settling on the body, thus avoiding a negative reaction on muscular contractility. The carbon fibers also accelerate the movement of humidity through evaporation. Strategically placed at the arms where the air will come in contact with the rider first is coldblack® Speedtech fabric. Speedtech has a dimpled mesh construction that reduces aerodynamic drag and is designed to improve aerodynamics for speeds ranging from 15 to 45 mph.

Let's start with what's inside this short, first. Team Europcar riders will ride the patented 5 Motion chamois. This chamois is designed to provide multi-directional motions so common with Voeckler's trademark attacking moves. By combining 3D preshaped wings with a bridged vented mesh split, the chamois adapts to the riders movements and positioning. Mesh areas at the back and front wick moisture and prevent the moisture coming from the upper body to fill the chamois. A carbon fiber bacteriostatic top layer wicks moisture and rids harming bacteria. On the surface, a compressive fit is achieved by both fit and Lycra Power, a high performance compressive material. Compression over the rider's legs is proven to enhance muscle support, increase blood flow, and reduce muscle soreness. Treated with coldblack®, the fabric reflects heat and the fabric stays cool to the touch. Laser Cut leg openings are produced by a cutting method using laser beams that eliminates fraying or the need for a hem. This hemless technology allows one layer technology that creates a smooth aerodynamic transition to the skin.

Louis Garneau, President of Louis Garneau Sports, and Pierre Karl Péladeau, President and CEO of Quebecor, are pleased to introduce the new 25-member Garneau-Quebecor cycling team, made up of 11 riders from Québec, 12 from Ontario, the Maritimes and British Columbia, and 2 from New Zealand.

The aim of the team is to develop world-class cyclists. It gives promising young riders a chance to grow and improve as part of a team, providing them with the means to develop their talent and achieve their goals. Team alumni include David Veilleux, who now rides the pro circuit as a member of France's Europcar team.

"That's the team's main raison d'être," said Louis Garneau. "We want to give our talented young athletes an opportunity to develop and give them a springboard to help them realize their dream, be it to compete in international amateur meets, to join the pro circuit, or even to represent their country at the Olympics."

During the 2012 season, the Garneau-Quebecor team will participate in a number of international-calibre races, including the Tour de Beauce, and several major events on the US East Coast. In fact, the team leaves tomorrow for New York State to compete in the Tour of the Battenkill. One of its members, Brett Tivers, will be defending his title after winning the race last year.

In competition, the riders use the full Louis Garneau cycling solution (shorts, jersey, helmet, shoes, gloves, bikes and accessories), serving as a test bed for product development.

Quebecor, the team's lead partner, sees its backing as a natural extension of its longstanding involvement in developing young talent in all fields: culture, business, sport. "Our support for elite athletes is in keeping with our commitment to promoting success and excellence," said Pierre Karl Péladeau. "Helping champions emerge, improve and become tomorrow's star pro athletes is a way for us to invest in the Québec of the future."

The Garneau-Quebecor cycling team's partners - Norton Rose, Cascades, Shimano, Vittoria, Sports Experts, Fedex, Delmar, Aquafina, Deloitte and Couture Rochette - are making a vital contribution to the development of young cyclists in Québec and the rest of Canada.

Louis Garneau, known to the cycling industry as the cycling solution, launches a new product line today known as Garneau Nutrition. Six flavors of energy gel will hit the market as the debut of this product line with an electrolyte sports drink and more nutritional products to follow in the near future.

LG Gel is made with natural ingredients and an optimum blend of complex carbohydrates, electrolytes, and antioxidants needed to meet the nutritional demands of athletes during racing and training.

Foremost, LG Gel tastes great and is available in six flavors, including Citrus, Concord Grape-Apple, Goji-Blueberry, Strawberry-Dragonfruit, Tropical Fruit, and Wildberry Pomegranate. Unlike other energy gels, LG Energy Gel contains real fruit juice which gives it a clean, simple, and natural taste with no chemical, bitter, or harsh after-taste. During intense workouts, taste is intensified; therefore, the flavors have been specially formulated to appeal to athletes of all abilities. In addition, the consistency of the gel makes it easy to swallow with or without water and allows for easy digestion.

We've perfected the packaging after two years in development (patent pending). The packaging is designed for a quick, no-struggle opening on the bike or during the run with a hole-punched tab for fingers to grip. The gel control spout allows the user to control the flow to the mouth and eliminates mess. The gel can easily be opened while in motion and the opening easily dispenses either directly to the mouth or in the waterbottle. Gel also stores perfectly in back pockets. The hole-punched tab will also be integrated to other products currently in development including bags and accessories.

"During my cycling career, nutrition always played a vital role in my success. As a cycling company, we work with athletes on a daily basis and therefore, had the desire to provide them with products essential for their training and racing. The launch of LG Energy will allow us to continue to be the cycling solution," remarks Founder and President, Louis Garneau.

Each gel packet is a serving size of 41 g and contains 100 calories with 25 grams of complex carbohydrates for quick absorption and increased long-term energy output and just 4 grams of simple sugars that make it easy to digest. Two Key Electrolytes (sodium and potassium) assist in rehydration and replenish electrolytes lost from perspiration. LG Gel contains no artificial flavors, colors, or sweeteners and delivers 100% DV of antioxidant vitamins C & E which help reduce muscle soreness and aid in recovery. Two flavors, Citrus and Tropical Fruit, are caffeinated. Citrus has 50mg of caffeine or roughly the equivalent of a single shot of espresso and Tropical Fruit has 25mg of caffeine.

LG Gel will be available throughout bike shops in both the United States and Canada. LG Energy will be marketed as part of Louis Garneau's Cycling Solution - and part of everything needed for the cyclist.

Well-known businessman and former Olympic cyclist Louis Garneau, who continues to reveal his artistic talent by putting in new efforts for the benefit of the Fondation du Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, engaged in a live painting performance last Saturday, to the delight of guests and media attending the “Contrasts” fundraiser.

Louis Garneau has taken up the challenge to create a unique and live canvas, in front of those present, who could then bid to acquire the painting as part of the public sale and auction held to benefit the Fondation du Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec.

The event took place in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, in the great hall of the museum, where the audience could dance to the same music the artist listened to on his iPod during the creation of his two works. "It was a great challenge," said Louis Garneau. "It is certain that the public presence completely changes the context," he says with a smile, "but it was also memorable and very rewarding, allowing direct contact between the artist and the public at the very moment of creation."

Louis Garneau, who has decided that from now on all proceeds from the sale of his paintings will go to charity, has already donated a previous series of 12 paintings, "The World", to the Fondation, most of which have been sold already. A "Louis Garneau" currently trades at $10,000, bringing his contribution to the fundraising campaign of the museum’s foundation to approximately $120,000, not counting Saturday night’s production. Incidentally, one of his paintings is on display in Lance Armstrong’s bicycle store, Mellow Johnny's, in Austin, Texas.

After a cycling career filled with success leading up to the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, Louis Garneau the businessman has made his company, Louis Garneau Sports Inc., a Quebec success story selling its products in over 30 countries. Today, he turns back to his first love, the arts, an area in which he holds a BA from the School of Visual Arts from Laval University, and devotes some of his free time to painting while benefitting many charities and causes close to his heart, including the expansion of the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec.

The Louis Garneau Carbon Pro Team shoes offer the latest in shoe technology for an optimized performance. The X-Lite outsole is our lightest outsole with added ventilation that does not compromise stiffness and is designed for racers. Not only is the outsole superlight, the thin design achieves a position that is closer to the pedal and therefore offers increased power. The rear heel features HRS-300 technology. This technology is an internal polymer system that secures the foot in place, optimizes fit, and reduces loss of power through slippage. The three straps (two Velcro, one ratchet) are physiologically designed for unsurpassed comfort providing pressure point relief and a secure fit that holds the foot in place and works in cooperation with the HRS-300 technology to increase power transfer. The insoles have Ice-Fil's moisture control technology. The fibers react to perspiration and convert sweat to a refrigerant to keep your feet cool and dry.

Thomas Voeckler, David Veilleux, and other professional athletes will be riding the Carbon Pro Team shoe for the 2012 season.

The Carbon Pro Team shoe is available in Red and Black, retails for $329.99, and expected to hit stores in January.

PICK.PAY.RIDE - LOUIS GARNEAU'S NEW ONLINE ORDERING SOLUTION

Louis Garneau is happy to announce the launch of Pick Pay Ride, the new individual team member online ordering system for Louis Garneau Custom. The new online system will feature the ability for team coordinators to manage orders and collect payment from team members. "Online Ordering Systems are becoming common in the custom apparel business, but through consulting with teams we have determined that many of them are not on target," remarks Pierre Perron, International Marketing Director for Louis Garneau. The Pick Pay Ride System differs from competitors online ordering systems in the following ways:

2-Step Process: PPR allows teams to choose a 1 or 2 step process. The 2-step process allows team coordinator to survey their teams or clubs for prospective interest and choices of apparel before offering a final order. "We have found that one of the biggest obstacles teams face is making the decision as a group what chamois, fabric, and styles to pick. Our system allows for teams to really start by asking the team, ‘what do you want to order?" notes Marie-Andree Vezina, Marketing Manager for Louis Garneau. This additional step can be superseded by advancing to the 1-step process which allows teams to immediately enter the payment stage.

Collecting Dues: In addition to ordering Louis Garneau Custom Apparel, the PPR System also functions as a portal for team coordinators to collect dues from their members. Dues can be added to custom orders as mandatory items and after checkout, dues will be sent directly to the team manager. This option really makes PPR an all-inclusive team organization center.

Static Links: The PPR System has the ability to offer a static link to the team's store. This html link can be posted on social media sites or emailed to friends and familys to help generate larger orders. In addition to static links communication with team members can be done through the system by importing address books.

Automatic Order Deadlines: With PPR, the team manager determines order deadlines. These deadlines help organize the workflow and insure the order is timely.

"We are excited to launch the PPR System. We are confident in the benefits this system will provide our teams and make it another reason why to choose Garneau," notes Perron. The PPR System is available now to teams and clubs in the United States with a version for the Canadian market coming soon. For more information contact Louis Garneau Custom at teamusa@louisgarneau.us

New for 2012, the Carve helmet is lightweight, highly ventilated, and offers super protection for mountain bikers. The MSB technology (a monocoque structural base at the base of the helmet that reinforces the perimeter for enhanced protection) along with a fully bonded back spread the shock of impacts, provides support, and enables the helmet to be lightweight. Highly inspired by the Exo-Nerv technology seen in earlier Louis Garneau helmets, the U=Bar technology is made with U-shaped plastic ribs that are folded 6 times. These ribs act like a complex ekoskeleton that reinforces the helmet's structure. The Patented Spiderlock Pro Retention, hailed as one of the best in the cycling industry, allows the user to adjust the helmet with only one hand to ensure safety while on the bike. The Carve comes with a removable visor that is specifically designed for the helmet. "Helmets have three criteria that need to be met: It needs to be safe, it needs to be ventilated, and it needs to be lightweight. Often these criteria go against each other, but by utilizing patented technology we are able to achieve all three and offer an amazing stylish mountain bike lid," comments Pierre Perron, International Marketing Director.

The Carve helmet will be available in January and retails for $84.99.

Some of the most innovative technology in the Louis Garneau Collection will appear on Team Europcar at Saturday's Tour de France Individual Time Trial. Louis Garneau sponsors helmets and apparel to Team Europcar, and some riders, such as Thomas Voeckler are riding Louis Garneau shoes and optics.

On Saturday, Team Europcar will ride the Aero Skin which was developed specifically for time trials and aerodynamics. The suit is designed with Speed Tech fabric that has a dimpled mesh construction to improve aerodynamics for speeds ranging from 25 to 70 km/h. The fabric is also certified compressive and offers extreme ventilation. The leg openings feature the Aero Lazer Band technology. Engineered for aerodynamics, the single-piece band is laser-cut and hemless for a smooth aerodynamic transition from the fabric to the skin while also being muscle supportive and maintaining position.

The Aero Skin is part of the Louis Garneau Custom Collection and can be designed with your team's graphics and logos. The same technology will be implemented into the Vorttice Speed Suit which will be available at your local Louis Garneau Retailer in Early 2012. MSRP: $ 249.99

Team Europcar will also be wearing the Louis Garneau Vorttice helmet. The Vorttice debuted on the market this year and can also be seen on the heads of some of the world's best athletes including Current Ironman World Champion, Mirinda Carfrae. The Vorttice helmet has a texturized surface on the front of the helmet similar to that of a golf ball. This surface helps to achieve better laminar airflow. Small blades at the top of the helmet create vortices that energize the laminar layer resulting in improved performance.

In order to avoid hindering aerodynamics, the vent opening must be strategically positioned. When the cyclist is riding straight forward the air must change direction to skirt around the helmet. This creates a high pressure zone in the front of the helmet, making it the perfect place to position the vent. Air goes in at high speeds, moves around the head through the evacuation channels, and out by the back opening. Heat produced by the cyclist's head is then wicked out through the back. The internal padding features Ice-fil technology that converts sweat to a refrigerant to maintain optimum comfort.

The Vorttice will be available in September 2011, and new for 2012, an all black version will be available in December 2011. MSRP: $249.99 and $259.99 for the Black Knight version.

LOUIS GARNEAU OFFICIAL HELMET SPONSOR OF MIRINDA CARFRAE

Louis Garneau is pleased to announce the helmet sponsorship of Current World Champion, Mirinda Carfrae. Carfrae won the 2010 Ford Ironman World Championships wearing a Louis Garneau Chrono-Leggera, and this year, Carfrae will be racing in the new windtunnel tested Vorttice helmet. Louis Garneau has proven their strength as a leader in helmets outfitting some of the world's best triathletes including: Chrissie Wellington, Joe Gambles, Samantha McGlone, and team TBB. In 2010, Louis Garneau was also ranked #1 at the Kona Helmet Count.
"After using a Garneau helmet for a number of years, I am thrilled to have become an official member of the Garneau family. I spent a whole day in the wind tunnel with Felt and found the Vorttice to be the most aerodynamic helmet on the market, but what has impressed me most is its ability to keep my head cool-which of course is hugely important when you consider the risks of overheating in races like Kona", remarks Carfrae.

"We are excited to work with Mirinda", notes Pierre Perron, International Marketing Director at Louis Garneau. "Working with athletes of her caliber is the only way we can hold our position as #1 in triathlon helmets. We have windtunnel tested the Vorttice helmet and know the aerodynamic strength it has. With the help of professional athletes, we will work to convey this message to all levels of triathletes."

The Vorttice helmet is a true revolution in aerodynamic helmets designed to be faster than the competition. Unlike any other aero helmet, proven dimpled technology at the front of the helmets causes air to flow closely to the helmet. When hitting the "Vortex Generator" at the top of the helmet, the air is accelerated again so it can glide along to the end of the helmet and eliminate air disturbances. The unique "air intake" situated at the highest pressure point on the helmet directs the air along the 3 evacuation channels, keeping the rider cool and directing the flow of air through and out the helmet. When the cyclist is riding straight forward, the air must change direction to skirt around the helmet. This creates a high pressure zone in front of the helmet making it the perfect place to position the vent. Air goes in at high speed, moves around the head through internal evacuation channels and exits at the back opening. Heat produced by the cyclist's head is then wicked out through the back. Designed to improve aerodynamic performance, the Vorttice lens is ventilated and included with the helmet. The shape of the helmet, the air intake system and the Vortex Generator prove to be exceptional at managing winds from all directions allowing athletes to go faster while spending less energy.

Louis Garneau has been the apparel sponsor of the Canadian Cycling Association for over 25 years. After proving the results of the new Louis Garneau Vorttice Helmet at the National Research Council Wind Tunnel in Ottawa, Ontario, the Canadian National Women's Track Team set out on the World Championships in the Netherlands.

Tara Whitten took her second consecutive title at the Women's Omnium. The omnium is a multiple-race event and with races held back to back with little time for recovery. Omniums are known as one of the most grueling events in track racing and this format will debut at the 2012 Olympic Games for which Whitten is preparing. Post victory, champion Tara Whitten noted: "Louis Garneau has been a long-time supporter of Canadian Cycling and I am excited about the new technology and testing that has gone into the Vorttice helmet."

"We have produced apparel for the Canadian Cycling Association for over 25 years because Louis Garneau is the cycling solution and offers a complete selection of cycling products including helmets, shoes, and apparel. It was an objective of ours to work towards getting Canada's best athletes in Louis Garneau helmets. The significance of aerodynamics in track racing made the Vorttice a perfect choice for the Women's Track Team," notes International Marketing Director, Pierre Perron. The Vorttice helmet complete with aerodynamic lenses has been wind tunnel tested and proven as the most efficient aero helmet available. "Dimpled technology, a unique air intake, a funneled back channel for ventilation, and vortex generator technology is more advanced and unlike standard aero helmet technology on the market right now," remarks Perron. "The UCI World Track Championship was a perfect opportunity for us to let this technology prove itself."

Gambles will be riding the Louis Garneau Vorttice Helmet and Carbon Tri HRS shoes for the 2011 Season.
LOUIS GARNEAU ANNOUNCES HELMET SPONSORSHIP OF SAMANTHA MCGLONE

Louis Garneau is proud to announce the helmet sponsorship of pro triathlete, Samantha McGlone. Samantha McGlone has been racing professionally for 9 years. First as short course ITU athlete where she represented Canada at the Olympic Games in Athens 2004, then on to long course where she was the 2006 Ironman 70.3 World Champion and 2nd at the 2007 Ironman World Championships and 2007 IM 70.3 World Championships. She won Ironman Arizona in a new course record in 2009 and was US Pro Champion for Ironman 70.3 in Texas.

"I have been racing in the LG Superleggera for the past few seasons and it is the lightest, most comfortable aero helmet I have ever tried. For daily training and extra hot races like the Hawaii Ironman I use the Diamond - it's so light and well ventilated I forget it's even there! I am excited to be partnering with LG in 2011. Their years of research and attention to detail is evident in all of their products and makes them leaders in the industry," notes McGlone.

"The helmets we have on the market right now offer the most aerodynamic, lightweight, and ventilated options available for athletes. While we are unsure exactly which style McGlone will be racing in this year, we are working to get her riding with the new Vorttice and X-Lite helmets," remarks Pierre Perron, International Marketing Director for Louis Garneau.

The unique "air intake" situated at the highest pressure point on the helmet directs the air along the 3 "evacuation channels" keeping the rider cool and directing the flow of air through and out the helmet. Designed to improve aerodynamic performance, the Vorttice lens is ventilated and included with the helmet. The shape of the helmet, air intake system and vortex generator prove to be exceptional at managing winds from all directions allowing athletes to go faster while spending less energy.

The Louis Garneau X-Lite Helmet is the lightest helmet on the market without compromising the retention system. Through patent pending U-Bar technology, U-shaped ribs that are folded six times create a complex exoskeleton to reinforce the helmet's structure. A super lightweight helmet stabilizing device is fitted with the webbing system and can be fully adjusted using only one hand. Super MSB technology is a ring-shaped protection at the base of the helmet to reinforce the perimeter for enhanced protection. All of these details make the X-Lite helmet not only seconds saving, not only ultra light, but they make the helmet safe and do not compromise the need for protection.

LOUIS GARNEAU LAUNCHES EUROPCAR PROFESSIONAL CYCLING CUSTOM KIT AND CUSTOM HELMET

With the 2011 cycling season gearing to start, there are so many factors that make the launch of the Europcar Professional Cycling Team Custom Kit and Helmet an early victory.

Most notable is the fact that Louis Garneau is the only manufacturer on the pro racing scene providing both apparel and helmets to one team. This ability is significant in that time spent in windtunnels and studying body acceleration has been maximized to design both helmets and apparel that function and enhance aerodynamic performance. "This year, more than ever, we have a kit designed to exceed any standards on cycling apparel," remarks Pierre Perron, International Marketing Director.

The study of wind resistance specific to a cyclist's position led to the design and technology of the Mondo Jersey. The re-engineered jersey has multipe zones and adaptive technology to correspond with airflow direction and penetration. Speed Tech shoulder panels reduce frontal pressure and cut wind resistance at the most strategic locations on a rider's body through a dimpled, textured fabric surface. Seam placement and panels have been precisely engineered to offer a streamlined impenetrable fit that improves human efficiency. The sleeves' Aero Lazer Band is laser-cut and seamless to reduce wind resistance, offer a second-skin feel, and provide a full range of motion. An underarm cooling zone of Power Mesh enhances comfort required so athletes remain competition focused.

The Louis Garneau Lazer Cut Bib is engineered with a laser-cut, seamless Aero Lazer band, which provides a second skin feel, smooth transition, and performance enabling muscle support. The 4Motion chamois's innovative design combines 3D preshaped wings and deep split at the back bridged by multidirectional motion and amazing comfort. Multi-thickness perforated high density foam maintains shape while offering moisture vaporization. Central channel shape relieves pressure from the urethra. This bib has been designed based on biomechanical studies of the cyclist's body and needs for comfort and performance.

The team will be riding a selection of Louis Garneau helmets this year including the Diamond, the Vorttice, and the Quartz. The Quartz sets itself apart with enormous ventilation channels made possible by the MSB technology (a monocoque structural base at the base of the helmet that reinforces the perimeter for enhanced protection) and also by Composite Reinforcements that spread the shock of impacts, provide support, and are lightweight. The Patented Spiderlock Elite Retention, hailed as one of the best in the cycling industry, allows the user to adjust the helmet with only one hand to ensure safety while on the bike. It can be angle adjusted and also provided with ergonomic foam padding. Also notable is the Evacuation Channel technology. "When we build a helmet, we take into account airflow, since the heat of the rider's head must be evacuated in order to maintain performance. Moisture channels are designed to let the air in the front of the helmet flow through the helmet and exit at the back to efficiently keep the head cool," remarks Pierre Perron.

Louis Garneau is proud to announce the clothing and helmet sponsorship of the UCI Continental Pro Team, Europcar Professional Cycling Team. The two-year deal will set a landmark in Louis Garneau history as the first time both helmets and clothing will appear on a team in the Pro Tour.

"For years, Louis Garneau has been producing some of the most technical gear on the market. This sponsorship will strengthen our credibility as we test and prove our apparel and helmets through the collaboration of the world's best athletes," remarks International Marketing Director, Pierre Perron.

The team will be led by French National Road Race Champion, Thomas Voeckler, who is known for his climbing abilities and held the Leader jersey for Mountains Classification through five stages of the 2008 Tour de France. Most recently, Voeckler placed 1st at the inaugural Grand Prix de Québec.

Also riding for Europcar is 7X Canadian National Champion, David Veilleux. Veilleux even won the 2010 USA Cycling National Professional Criterium Championship though he could not hold the title. Louis Garneau has had the opportunity to work with Veilleux throughout the milestones in his racing career. First as part of the Canadian Cycling Association of which Garneau has been a long-time sponsor. Garneau also helped implement his transition to the US Pro Racing circuit with his joining the roster of Jittery Joe's Professional Cycling Team in 2007. His addition to the roster of a UCI Pro Continental team will be another step in Veilleux's career. " I'm pleased to join a world-class team since this will help in my development. Also, knowing that I'm going to ride Garneau helmets and apparel gives me confidence. That gear are some of the most technological on the market. My sponsorship with Garneau started when I first entered sports when I was around 15. It's like going back home, and I will be very glad to tell them about my experience in order to help them keep developing amazing products.," says Veilleux.

"Our relationship with Louis Garneau and the past helmet sponsorship of the Bouygues Telecom Professional Cycling Team from 2005-2008 has always been a positive factor in the history of our team. This year, we strengthen our relationship and bring Louis Garneau helmets and apparel to the team. Louis Garneau is one of the few manufacturers outfitting teams with helmets and apparel, and also one of the few manufacturers producing helmets and apparel at that caliber of technology. When presented with one of the fastest TT helmets and one of the lightest road helmets, we immediately knew it was good to be back with Garneau," remarks Jean-Rene Bernaudeau, manager since 2000.

The team will debut their season at the Tour of Gabon on January 25th, 2011

The Vorttice helmet is a true revolution in aerodynamic helmets designed to be faster than the competition. Unlike any other aero helmet, proven dimpled technology at the front of the helmets causes air to flow closely to the helmet. When hitting the "Vortex Generator" at the top of the helmet, the air is accelerated again so it can glide along to the end of the helmet and eliminate air disturbances. Our unique "air intake" situated at the highest pressure point on the helmet directs the air along the 3 "evacuation channels" keeping the rider cool and directing the flow of air through and out the helmet. The shape of the helmet, air intake system and vortex generator prove to be exceptional at managing winds from all directions allowing athletes to go faster while spending less energy.

After countless fit sessions, wind tunnel testing, and body acceleration analysis, Louis Garneau exceeds the standard for aerodynamic performance and speed. The study of wind resistance specific to a cyclist's position led to the design and technology of the Corsa Jersey. The re-engineered jersey has multiple zones and adaptive technology to correspond with airflow direction and penetration. Speed Tech shoulder panels reduce frontal pressure and cut wind resistance at the most strategic location on a rider's body through a dimpled, textured fabric surface. Seam placement and panels have been precisely engineered to offer a streamlined impenetrable fit that improves human efficiency. The sleeve's Aero Lazer Band is laser-cut and seamless to reduce wind resistance, offer a second-skin feel, and provide a full range of motion. An underarm cooling zone of Carbon X-Mesh enhances comfort required so athletes remain competition focused.

A new level of performance cycling bib has been unveiled. The Louis Garneau Corsa Bib is engineered with Speed Tech fabric that has a dimpled mesh construction aimed at improving aerodyanamics and offering moisture management. A laser-cut, seamless Aero Lazer band provides a second skin feel, smooth transition, and performance enabling muscle support. The 4Motion Chamois's innovative design combines 3D preshaped wings and deep split at the back bridged by multidirectional motion and amazing comfort.
